THE OTO EXPOSM FEATURES HUNDREDS OF EXHIBITORS

AAO-HNSF Listens, Makes Changes to Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSM
Y ou Spoke. We Listened.” is the theme of the AAO-HNSF 2015 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSM. Attendees
will see better access to education sessions, additional video presentations, and more learning opportunities in the exhibit hall from today through Tuesday.
This year, Miniseminars, Instruction Courses, and Scientific Oral Presentations are being presented concurrently, a change from scheduling at previous Annual Meet-ings. In addition, the registration fee for the meeting includes all 300-plus Instruction Courses, which means you can attend any Instruction Course of your choice at no additional cost. Previously, tickets to each course had to be purchased separately.
“Miniseminars, Instruction Courses, and Oral Sessions will run throughout the day,” said Johnnie White, Senior Director of the Education and Meetings Business Unit. “Be-cause of the format changes, we are offering more unopposed time in the morning and afternoon for committee meetings, visiting the OTO EXPO, and attending the Honorary Guest Lectures.”
Format changes continue for individual sessions, such as five-minute Scientific Oral Presentations and Masters of Surgery video presentations that will debut this year. The videos will be used to illustrate the technical aspects of surgical techniques. Presentations with videos are noted in the online and final programs.
Another popular set of presentations
introduced last year, Hands-on Training Sessions, will return to the OTO EXPO. The sessions, which require advance registration, will feature cadavers so attendees can partici-pate in simulations of surgical procedures.
Also plan to visit the ENTConnect Booth, #324, in Hall C of the exhibit hall. ENTCon-nect is a private social network for AAO-HNS Members to network and collaborate with colleagues. Sign up to join ENTConnect
at the booth, which also will have makeup artists and photographers on Monday and Tuesday so you can take a professional photo for use on ENTConnect and for your personal use.

Opening Ceremony to Recognize Tradition, Change
T he Opening Ceremony offers the first opportunity to reconnect with colleagues at the AAO-HNSF 2015
Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSM and to learn more about what is behind this year’s theme: “You Spoke. We Listened.”
AAO-HNS/F President Gayle E. Wood-son, MD, will welcome attendees at 8:30 am today in Hall B of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. In doing so, she not only is returning to the state where she grew up, but to the city of Dallas, where she attended her first Annual Meeting. Having been “totally blown away and inspired” by that meeting, now as president she will preside over the Opening Ceremony.
Building on this year’s theme, the cer-emony will highlight changes to the Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO format as well as
major initiatives, including the RegentSM
ENT clinical data registry and the new Acad-emyU® learning platform.
A video will guide attendees through what’s new at the Annual Meeting, as Eben L. Rosenthal, MD, Coordinator, Scientific Program, and Sukgi S. Choi, MD, Coor-dinator, Instruction Course Program are recognized.
In his new role as AAO-HNS/F Executive Vice President and CEO, James C. Denneny III, MD, will speak before Dr. Woodson honors several Members for their service and leadership.
Following tradition, the John Conley, MD Lecture on Medical Ethics will be presented, this year by G. Scott Morris, MD, MDiv, founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Church Health Center, which provides pri-
mary health care to low-income, uninsured working people of Memphis.
As a special feature for this year’s Opening Ceremony, the families within the “family of otolaryngology” will tell their stories in a video depicting how the passion for the spe-cialty has been passed from one generation to the next or shared by spouses or siblings.
This year’s Opening Ceremony also will present a historical first as the gavel is passed from one female president to another—from Dr. Woodson to Sujana S. Chandrasekhar, MD.
The session concludes with a video about the new RegentSM registry and an invitation to remain for the Miniseminar that immediately follows about the registry, “The Power of Data: Creating a Clinical Data Registry for Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery.”
Church Health Center is the largest
healthcare organization of its type in the United States, providing care with more than 42,000 patient visits annually with-out any government funding. Its founder and leader, G. Scott Morris, MD, MDiv, will
talk about the group’s work and goals when he delivers the John Conley, MD Lecture on Medical Ethics, “What Makes a Great Surgeon?” today.
Dr. Morris will deliver his lecture during the Opening Ceremony, at 8:30 am
in Hall B. He is a family practice physician and ordained United Methodist minister who founded the center in Memphis, TN, in 1987 with a goal of providing quality, af-fordable healthcare for working, uninsured people and their families.
“I am going to present a slightly dif-ferent way of thinking about how, in the future, we could view what we do in terms of healthcare,” Dr. Morris said. “It can’t just be about technology. There has to be a way for us to understand that we are all human, and what does that mean when we practice medicine?
“Health is something that only happens when we are locked in trying to figure out how we live the life well-lived. A life well-lived is not just about longevity. We want to do whatever it takes to help people achieve what I think everyone would agree are the goals for living, which is having more joy in your life, having more love in your life, and being connected to those things that are greater than we are.”

AAO-HNSF Listens, Makes Changes to Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSMY ou Spoke. We Listened.” is the theme of the AAO-HNSF 2015 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSM. Attendees will see better access to education sessions, additional video presentations, and more learning opportunities in the exhibit hall from today through Tuesday. Previously, tickets to each course had to be purchased separately.“Miniseminars, Instruction Courses, and Oral Sessions will run throughout the day,” said Johnnie White, Senior Director of the Education and Meetings Business Unit. “Be-cause of the format changes, we are offering more unopposed time in the morning and afternoon for committee meetings, visiting the OTO EXPO, and attending the Honorary Guest Lectures.”Format changes continue for individual sessions, such as five-minute Scientific Oral Presentations and Masters of Surgery video presentations that will debut this year.
Sign up to join ENTConnect
at the booth, which also will have makeup artists and photographers on Monday and Tuesday so you can take a professional photo for use on ENTConnect and for your personal use.Other highlights of this year’s AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO:• Details about the new AAO-HNSF ENT clinical data registry, RegentSM, will be Opening Ceremony to Recognize Tradition, ChangeT he Opening Ceremony offers the first opportunity to reconnect with colleagues at the AAO-HNSF 2015 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSM and to learn more about what is behind this year’s theme: “You Spoke. We Listened.” AAO-HNS/F President Gayle E. Wood-son, MD, will welcome attendees at 8:30 am today in Hall B of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. In doing so, she not only is returning to the state where she grew up, but to the city of Dallas, where she attended her first Annual Meeting. Having been “totally blown away and inspired” by that meeting, now as president she will preside over the Opening Ceremony.Building on this year’s theme, the cer-emony will highlight changes to the Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO format as well as
major initiatives, including the RegentSM ENT clinical data registry and the new Acad-emyU® learning platform.A video will guide attendees through what’s new at the Annual Meeting, as Eben L.
Church Health Center is the largest healthcare organization of its type in the United States, providing care with more than 42,000 patient visits annually with-out any government funding. Its founder and leader, G. Scott Morris, MD, MDiv, will talk about the group’s work and goals when he delivers the John Conley, MD Lecture on Medical Ethics, “What Makes a Great Surgeon?” today.
Dr. Morris will deliver his lecture
during the Opening Ceremony, at 8:30 am in Hall B. He is a family practice physician and ordained United Methodist minister who founded the center in Memphis, TN, in 1987 with a goal of providing quality, af-fordable healthcare for working, uninsured people and their families.“I am going to present a slightly dif-ferent way of thinking about how, in the future, we could view what we do in terms of healthcare,” Dr.
