• The main pathological feature of CD is
intercellular oedema of the epidermis
• This initial reaction may result in intra epidermal
vesicle and bullae formation in acute cases and
papules, scaling, and lichenification in chronic
cases

Irritant Contact Dermatitis
• Irritation refers to the direct injurious action by a
substance when in contact with the skin
• Resultant injury causes an inflammation, called

Allergic Contact Dermatitis
• Contact allergy is an action by the immune
system of the body on recognizing an allergen
