Construction Update September 2015

Anderson High School The design team has completed interviewing the building staff regarding educational needs and has

provided a preliminary design of the building to the district. Architects will continue working to complete construction drawings and will accept bids in early 2016. Construction should be completed in July 2018.

• Construction work will begin in the late spring of 2016 and will continue through three summers and selectively during the school year. The primary focus of all work is safety and minimizing any interruption of the educational process.

Ayer Elementary School

• The design team completed interviewing the building staff regarding educational needs, provided a preliminary design of the building to the district and completed construction drawings. The project is currently being advertised for bids. Bids will be accepted on August 25, 2015. Construction should be completed in July 2017.

• Roof replacement over the gym and air conditioning in the gym will be completed by start of the 2015-16 school year.

• Construction work, including new classrooms and security vestibules, will begin in the fall of 2015 and continue through two summers with minimal work during the school year. All work will be done with safety and minimizing interruption of the educational process as a primary focus.

• A ramp has been designed to provide ADA handicap access from the main building to the gym. The

ramp construction project is currently underway and will be completed by Oct. 2015. When school begins in 2015, the work will be isolated from the students and staff and will be completed after school

hours. The primary focus of all work is safety and minimizing any interruption of the educational process.

Mercer Elementary School • The design team has completed interviewing the building staff regarding educational needs and has

provided a preliminary design of the building to the district. Architects are working to complete construction drawings and will accept bids for the work late in 2015.

• Construction work will begin in the late spring of 2016 and continue through two summers with minimal

work during the school year. The primary focus of all work is safety and minimizing any interruption of the educational process. Construction should be completed in July 2017.

Nagel Middle School • The design team has completed interviewing the building staff regarding educational needs and provided

the district with a preliminary design of the proposed new entrance and interior improvements. Architects have also completed construction drawings. The project is currently being advertised for bids. Bids will be accepted on August 25, 2015.

• The entrance to the cafeteria has been expanded and improved for circulation and capacity. This project started in June 2015 and will be completed by the beginning of the 2015 school year.

• The HVAC renovations will be completed by the beginning of the 2015 school year.

• Interior work will begin in the fall of 2015 and will be completed by the spring of 2016. Site improvements will be completed by the fall of 2016. Work on the movable partition for the stage will begin in December 2015 and will be completed in January 2016. The primary focus of all work is safety and minimizing any interruption of the educational process.

Sherwood Elementary School

Summit Elementary School

Turpin High School • The design team has completed interviewing the building staff regarding educational needs and has

provided a preliminary design of the building to the district. Architects will continue working to complete construction drawings and will bid the project in early 2016.

• Construction work will begin in the summer of 2016 and will continue through three summers and selectively during school the school year. The primary focus of all work is safety and minimizing any interruption of the educational process. Construction should be completed in July 2018.

Wilson Elementary School • The design team has completed interviewing the building staff and has provided a preliminary design of the

building. The architects will continue working to complete construction drawings and will bid the project later this year.

• The drilling of geothermal test wells has been completed and the drilling report is favorable for a geothermal system to be installed, a feature that could reduce building operating costs by providing heat to Wilson in a cost-effective, energy-efficient manner. Currently, the district is doing a cost-analysis to determine the pay-back time of the higher initial cost for a geothermal system to be installed.

• Construction work will begin in the spring of 2016 and should be completed for the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.
