Jack Barber Racing Open DayWelcome to our Open Day. We are marking the start of an exciting journey for Jade and myself, as I embarkupon a new career as a National Hunt Trainer. I am very grateful to all of you who are investing in our futureand we are very privileged to have some lovely horses; and I hope in return myself and the team here at HigherPeckmoor can provide you with some exhilarating days and some lasting memories.
My goal is to perpetuate the success I have achieved in Point-to-point racing, and to build on that as a spring-board to success in the National Hunt discipline. My time training Point-to-pointers has given me a broadexperience and an insight into the skills required, however I do appreciate that this will be a big step up and Iam relishing the opportunity.
We will continue to develop talent in Point-to-point racing as my wife Jade takes full responsibility for train-ing the pointers, whilst I focus on my new National Hunt career. Through this unique opportunity we intendto nurture and develop young talented horses in the Point-to-point field prior to stepping them up to NationalHunt Racing – an approach which my grandfather Richard and Paul Nicholls developed with horses such as SeeMore Business, Earthmover and more besides.
We recently announced that we have a new yard sponsor in Connexi. We are delighted to have them as partnersand to give them the opportunity to broaden their offering in racing. This is a fantastic boost for me and myteam at Higher Peckmoor and we are very grateful to the team at Connexi for their commitment and support inour first season in National Hunt racing.
I would like to pay a special tribute to my staff as they have worked very hard to prepare the yard and the horsesfor today. I know that they too are very enthusiastic about the future and together I believe we have a very excit-ing time ahead of us. Here’s to the next generation of Barber horses!
