an essential element of the global response to food sustainability and

hope this calendar will enable our students and the school/ hospital com-

munity to appreciate and address the impact of food sustainability and

Life at Liverpool…..

RED for Daniel Morcombe Day on the 30th October, 2015.

Recognise, React, Report! Students embedded their learning by making

red faces to express feeling safe or unsafe.

Liverpool Hospital School has benefitted enormously from the mu-

sic program lead by specialist teacher Sam Newton. Sam manages

to bring a smile to all faces and encourages creativity. Sam builds

the capacity of students to compose both lyrics and melody.

Jolly times at John hunter…….

During Term 4, students attending the John Hunter Hospital School, have been learning about the customs and cultures of peo-

ple from countries around the world. One such country was India and the age old custom of creating beautiful “Rangoli” pat-

terns. The purpose of rangoli is decoration, and it is thought to bring good luck. Design depictions may also vary as they reflect

traditions, folklore and practices that are unique to each area. It is traditionally done by women. Generally, this practice is show-

cased during occasions such as festivals, auspicious observances, marriage celebrations and other similar milestones and gather-

ings such as “Diwali – the festival of Lights.”

Under the guidance of JHHS teacher, Lisa Swanson, the students created their very own rangoli design, using sugar coloured

with food dye. The result was amazing! It was a test of patience and determination to create the colourful and eye-catching art-

work. The students loved completing the rangoli and all worked together to produce an artwork that they were all proud of!
