I think it was Will Rogers, the entertainer in the early 1900s, who always made the statement, “everyone’s talking about the weather but no one is doing anything about it.” When you think about it, there’s really nothing we can do about the weather. It’s been hot and it seems to be getting hotter, doesn’t it? Well, the only thing we can do is to make sure we adjust to the heat and always stay prepared. I can’t stress to you enough the importance of drinking fluids to keep your body hydrated to function in the heat. I remember being younger and feeling invincible, not really paying any attention ot stay-ing hydrated. But, I’ll tell you, the summer heat doesn’t play. It’ll sneak up on you and wear you down, both physically and mentally. Nothing seems to keep you hydrated, in my opinion, more than good cold water. Our bodies need water and while sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade are good with restoring electrolytes and other minerals and chemicals in the body, good old cold water is important too.

We’re human. Being out in the hot summer heat isn’t always easy. As humans we’re tempted to get in and out of the heat as quickly as we can because it can be uncomfortable. I’d advise to take plenty of short breaks, while pumping yourself with fluids. As an open deck driver, we’ve got to make sure our loads are loaded properly and the loads are secured. If you get hot while securing your loads, take a short break. No one is going to ever criticize you for taking breaks to stay cool. Realizing that this world has turned into “hurry, hurry, hurry,” take time to cool off, and then do the job the right way and the safe way.

One more suggestion about things to look for while the weather is hot; our patience, our dispositions and our tempers can be affected by the hot. People seem to get more irritable when they’re out in the heat too long. It happens to everyone. Just keep this in mind and take a little time to cool off and get in the right state of mind. You’ll find statistics showing that “road rage” and other aggressive actions from people seem to increase during the hot weather months.

I hope you are able to spend some family time this summer. Enjoy the lake, beach, pool or mountains. Enjoy God’s creation and spend some quality time among those that you love and care.

Be Safe Always.Jem BlairVP Safety

It Is HOT All Across the Country!!The temperatures are rising so make sure you are taking care of yourself first by taking in plenty of liquids to hy-

drate and keeping yourself cool whenever possible. As you take care of yourself, take the time to make sure you are doing everything you can to take care of the equipment you are operating. These hotter temperatures take a toll on your equipment as well.

• Pre-trip & post trip, before you start your day and when you finish up your day. These two actions you can take are what can make you successful or not.

• Engine issues— need to be caught early, so watch for temps on your gauges rising, check engine lights, frequent regen issues and excessive coolant or oil usage.

• Be sure you have your a/c system checked when you come in for a service; you cannot survive these hot days and nights without your ac working properly.

• If you are having ac problems & cannot get it fixed immediately, ask to be put into a hotel. We do not want any of our people exposed to trying to sleep in a hot vehicle.

• Air pressure most critical point in tire life. Not checking tire pressure can lead to casing failures, blowouts, irregular wear, or waiting for a service truck on the side of the road. Owners & Lease Purchase /Lease Maintenance Oper-ators as you check your truck make sure you are checking the trailer tires for the same things. Drive & trailer tires 105psi---steer- 110psi---super single—110 psi.

The Maintenance Department is here to serve our drivers, please contact us if we can help in any way!

Fighting Fear With FaithCan faith and fear live together in the Christian? Yes, yes and yes. Faith and fear are not mutually

exclusive. Fear is one of the enemy’s most popular weapons he uses against us. Worry, anxiety, fear can overwhelm us with a thick shadow of darkness, controlling our every move and decision.

I often hear Christians rebuked when they struggle with fear and faith. Perhaps a challenging cir-cumstance has entered life; a circumstance that could be long-term or with an unclear ending. Since the person is a believer, they pray and ask for God’s intervention, and have faith He will do just that. Yet, all through the day, those circumstances scream, “You will not come out of this! It’s over! This is going to end badly for you! There is no hope it will turn around.” Fear has raised its head.

That believer has both faith and fear operational. My home is designed with a split bedroom plan. The master bedroom is on one end of the house, and the two guest

rooms are on the other end. Between those two guest rooms is a hallway, so one can walk to either room, and one can easily walk back and forth between the two rooms.

Faith and fear are like those two bedrooms, with a hallway in between. Let’s name one of the rooms fear and the other one faith. There are times I find myself in the fear room, and there are times I find myself in the faith room. The question is, “Where will I abide?”

Many years ago, the doctor informed my wife, it was more likely than not, she had ovarian cancer, and it had spread to nearby lymph nodes. To say we were shocked would be an understatement. Surgery would be done two weeks later, and an oncologist would be present to see how many organs were affected. That was a loooooong two weeks!

Many times, during those two weeks, our emotions would draw us into the fear room. It was a dark room. As a believ-er, we had to make a choice to walk the hallway to the room of faith. Where would our residency be? Could we trust God He had her life in His hands?

It became an epic battle to take our mind and body out of the room of fear, enter the hallway and walk over to faith. We did that more times than we could count. It was a constant battle of the mind. It was not until the morning of the sur-gery we felt a perfect faith that God was in control of the situation. Notice I did not say God told us how it would turn out, but that God reassured us she was in His hands.

Every believer must exercise hallway faith. All of us will have situations where the ending is uncertain. Fear will invite you to take up residence in its room. Over and over, you will be faced with the choice of entering the hallway to walk in faith. Do it! No matter how many times fear beckons you to come and dwell in its room, enter the hallway! There is peace in the hallway! There is faith through the hallway! There is God’s will in the situation once we choose to enter the hallway and trust God!

God does not lose faith in you even when you are fearful. Peter left his fishing boat to follow Jesus. Things got tough as the crucifixion neared. Peter had enough faith to leave his boat to follow Jesus but operated in total fear when confronted about being a disciple. Because of fear, Peter denied our Lord. God did not give up on Peter. Later in the book of Acts, that same man who had been fearful, stood and preached a powerful message, resulting in 3,000 salvations. Transforma-tion happens when we enter the hallway of faith. We conquer fear!

What are you facing today that seems overwhelming? Fight for faith. Choosing not to allow fear and anxiety to control us is not always easy, and it often comes down to a choice. Enter the hallway today! God will meet you in the hallway and give you the strength to walk into the room of faith. You are more than a conqueror!

“What time I am afraid, I will trust in You. “ Psalm 56:3
