COMPETITIONS
CONDITIONS OF PLAY
1. Players should play at a good pace.
2. It is a group's responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole and it is delaying the group behind it
should invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group. Where a group has not lost a
clear hole, but it is apparent that the group behind can play faster, it should invite the faster moving group to play through.
3. Always play a "Provisional Ball" if there is a possibility that the first ball will not be found. As soon as it is clear that the ball
will not be easily found, call the group behind through.
PRIORITY ON THE COURSE
DRESS CODE
(Taken from Helsby Golf Club Bye-Laws)
1. The Rules of Golf state that priority on the course is determined by a group's pace of play. Any group playing a whole round
is entitled to pass a group playing a shorter round. The term "group" includes a single player.
2. Players should not "Cut In" if they are likely to hold up the match following, in which case they have no standing.
3. Players playing social golf following a competition, must leave a clear gap of at least one hole.
1. All competitors must register and pay their entrance fee before play.
2. Competitors should start precisely at their allocated tee time - avoid teeing off either early or late.
3. All cards must be returned whether completed or not.
Members will be notified of visiting Societies and organised groups or events.

Golfing Fixtures 2020 / 2021
The Basic dress rule is that only golfing clothing that is designed to be worn for the purpose of playing golf is acceptable. Golf
shoes must be worn.
Clubhouse Lounge - The basic dress rule is smart casual
The Following Items of clothing have been deemed unacceptable: Football shorts, shirts, logos, t-shirts with inappropriate
slogans, camouflaged clothing, training clothing, flip-flops,caps and spikes.
Club Functions - The standard of dress required will be stipulated on the function notice. Members and visitors are expected to
adhere to the dress code.
