Concert 1: FLORIAN MITREA(Piano)

Thursday 7th October 2021, 7.30pm

British/Romanian pianist FlorianMitrea was born in Bucharestbut has been based in the UKsince 2008. An alumnus andprofessor at the Royal Academyof Music in London, he is anaward-winning soloist with aninternational performing career.

Programme - Mozart: Sonata in C major KV 309.Schubert:Wanderer-Fantasia in C major, op.15 Liszt'Après une Lecture de Dante', Sonata quasi FantasiaBeethoven: Sonata in Eb major, op.7.

Concert 2: PELLEAS ENSEMBLE(Flute, viola and harp)

Thursday 11th November 2021, 7.30pm

The Pelléas Ensemble was formed at the GuildhallSchool of Music and Drama in 2011. Playing with“verve and polish” (The Times), they won the RoyalPhilharmonic Society’s Henderson Chamber EnsembleAward in 2018, and the 2017 Elias Fawcett Award forOutstanding Chamber Ensemble at the RoyalOverseas League competition.

Programme - Ibert: Deux interludes Leclair: TrioSonata op2 no.8 Prokofiev: Romeo and Juliet:selections. Ravel: Pavane pour une infante defunteBritten: Lachrymae Debussy: Sonata for flute, violaand harp.

Concert 3: MAGNARD ENSEMBLE(Wind quintet plus piano)

Thursday 2nd December 2021, 7.30pm

Programme - Dvorak: Slavonic Dance inG minor, Mozart: Quintet in E flat major,Dvorak: Slavonic Dance in D flat major,Roussel: Divertissement, Saint-Saens:Tarantelle, Poulenc: Sextuor.

Concert 4: ALASTAIR PENMAN (Saxophone)JONATHAN PEASE (Piano)

Thursday 20th January 2022, 7.30pm

Hailed as a “pioneeringinstrumentalist and writer” andpraised for his “surpassinglybeautiful music” and “undoubtedlybrilliant mind”, British saxophonistAlastair Penman is a dynamicperformer.

Jonathan Pease is an accomplished,versatile pianist. After reading musicat St. Catharine's College,Cambridge, he studied the pianowith Graham Fitch, and is in highdemand as an accompanist andrépétiteur, thanks to his exceptionalsight-reading skills and sensitiveensemble playing.

Programme - Itturalde: Pequena Czardas, Maurice:Tableau de Provence, Ravel: Habanera, Bennett:Four Country Dances, Demerssemen: Fantasy onCarnival of Venice, Scott: Three Letter Word, Planel:Prelude and Saltarelle, Woods: Sonata, Debussy:Golliwog’s Cakewalk, Bizet: Carmen Fantasy.

Concert 5: JURITZ BRIGGS DUOThursday 17th February 2022, 7.30pm

David Juritz and Sarah BethBriggs first collaborated in theearly 1990s and were broughttogether musically by a deepcommitment to the music ofMozart.

From the 2019 season David and Sarah will beworking together as a violin and piano duo continuingto raise the profile of Austrian-British composer HansGál by including his Sonatas and Sonatinas in theirrecitals.

Programme - Mozart Sonata in E minor, K304,Beethoven Sonata in G major, Op 96. Hans GálSonatina no 3 in F major, Brahms Sonata no 3 in Dminor, Op 108.

Concert 6: DIVERTIMENTO STRING QUARTETThursday 10th March 2022, 7.30pm

The Divertimento StringQuartet perform threedifferent programmes a year,with a wide range of worksfrom Haydn and Mozart toWalton and Shostakovich.

The Quartet also gives concerts with a mixture ofstyles from classical to light classics.

Programme - Haydn: Quartet Op.76 No 4 in B flatmajor, Humperdinck: Quartet in C major,Shostakovitch: Quartet No3 in F minor.

Concert 7: CRAYFORD-WELSH-CLEMMOW TRIOThursday 28th April 2022, 7. 30pm

Marcia Crayford (violin), Moray Welsh (cello) andCaroline Clemmow (piano) are all distinguished soloperformers who, on rare occasions, come together toplay as a trio. We are extremely fortunate that theyhave consented to do this for our closing concert of the21/22 season.

Programme - Haydn: Piano Trio G major,Piazolla: “Spring”, Dvorak: Piano Trio Op. 90,“Dumky”.
