The Planets
The moon and the stars are not the only objects shining in the sky.
There are planets. The sun has nine planets around it. We live in the 3 rd
planet from the sun . Earth moves around the sun once a year. It's about 150
kilometers away from the sun. Mercury is the closest to the sun, the most
distant planet is Pluto.
Planets don't send out their heat or light like the sun. They shine in the
sky only, because the sun shines on them. They reflect the sun's light just
like the moon does . The nearest planets to the sun are too hot to live on,
while those furthest away are too cold. Living things would not be able to
survive on these planets.

children did the same jobs as their parents. Girls stayed at home with their

Swimming
We may not live near the sea, but there is usually a public swimming
pool or a public swimming bath that we can use. All of them have life
guards to look after the swimmers. The most important thing is to learn
how to swim. If you lie on the water, you don't sink – you float. People sink
when they are frightened.
Keep calm. Never go swimming alone, go with friends. If one gets
into difficulties, the others can help him. Never swim when a red flag is
flying. This means it is dangerous to swim. The waves may not look very
big, but the sea is dangerous. Do not swim after a big meal. People who

[9] Read the following passage then answer the questions:
Have you ever seen a panda? Pandas live in the mountains of China
in bamboo forests. You may have seen a panda on pictures or on TV.
Pandas sleep about ten hours a day. When they are awake, they spend
most of the day eating. They love to eat bamboo. They also like to eat
meat, but it is very hard for pandas to catch small animals to eat because
they are so large and they move so slowly. So pandas eat mostly bamboo.
Pandas are very playful. They like to roll around on the ground.
Pandas make noises; they bark like dogs when they meet other pandas.
There is a big problem with pandas. It is difficult for them to raise
baby pandas and very often they die when they are still babies. There are
fewer and fewer pandas in the world. Soon, they may become extinct.
