COMPOUND AND COMPLEX SENTENCES

COMPOUND SENTENCES
• A sentence with two or more subjects or predicates
• Has two independent clauses
Examples:
• I like to watch movies, and eat popcorn.
• I planned to go to the hockey
game, but I couldn't get tickets
COMPLEX SENTENCES
• A sentence containing a subordinate clause or clauses
• Use the "fanboys" reminder to remember the conjunctions
Examples:
• When she was younger, she believed in fairytales.
• Though he was very rich, he was still very unhappy.

3. red and blue colored pencils or crayons
4. hands
• Instructions1. Come up with as many complex or compound
sentences as you can
2. Put a blue check mark if it is a complex sentence
3. Red for compound sentences
4. Whoever has the most down and checked right will get a prize
5. Have lots of fun
