Introduction

• The type of nutrition plays an important role in improvingthe growth and development of the silkworm, Bombyxmori L.

• on other hand, the quality of silk production is dependenton the larval nutrition and nutritive value of mulberryleaves.

• Silkworm obtains its entire nutritional requirement frommulberry leaves because this insect is monophagous andcan complete the life cycle on mulberry leaves exclusively.

Experiment

The study is to clarify the influence of feeding thesilkworm larvae some mulberry leaves supplementedwith two concentrations of three algae species. Spirulina platensis, (SP) Chlorella vulgaris (CV) Scenedesmus sp. (SS)

on some biological aspects larval weight (LW) larval duration (LD) pupal weight (PW) number of deposited eggs (Noegg) silk production (length of silk gland) (SL)

Data Planning

The larval durations and weights will be recorded at theend of the larval stages.

The number of eggs , the weight of pupae as well as thesilk glands length all will be recorded.

The averages of the all these measures will be calculated. We will use one excel sheet to save data. the data will be described using additional data in

another sheet of the same file. The place where the experiment will be conducted and

the contextual information about the laboratoryconditions will be recorded.

Data Collection

The weight of the larvae will be measured in the 4th

and the 5th instar The length of the silkgland will be measured in the

end of the experiment The number of eggs will be counted.

the lowest weights of the fourth and fifth instars and the shortest durations of both instars were found in larvae fed on leaves supplemented with 12.5 and 18.75 Scenedesmus sp

The overall comparison Scenedesmus sp achieved 57% All the tested supplemented algae had highly significant enhanced weight of the

silk gland.
