Crisis Nursery is humbled by the generosity of our community, inspired by the continuous collaborative efforts of our supporters, and committed to providing programs and services that address the needs of Champaign County.

In 2018, nearly 35,000 cases of child abuse were indicated in Illinois.

Imagine being a father with 2 toddlers and a newborn child. Due to complications, your wife passed away shortly after giving birth. You’ve unexpectedly become the sole caregiver for three children. You feel lost, hurt, and don’t know where to turn. Your support system lives states away and the thought of moving forward without your better half is unthinkable. You know you must provide for your children, but need help. Where would you turn?

Unlike many areas across the nation, Champaign County is fortunate to have a resource that helps families in situations like the one referenced above. We believe asking for help is a sign of strength.

Our mission to prevent child abuse and neglect not only strengthens families, but our entire community. Using the Baby TALK model, our staff is dedicated to walking alongside families and supporting them in their journey.

Together, we assisted 429 families last year by providing safety, shelter, and care during their time of crisis. Your support made it possible to provide over 30,000 hours of crisis care to children. Support comes in many different forms. This past year was a great example of this.

Several businesses and organizations hosted creative third party fundraisers and donated the proceeds back to the Nursery.

Kids took action by spearheading goods drives at their schools, setting up lemonade stands in their neighborhoods, and putting collection boxes around town simply to help other kids.

We’ve also taken additional steps towards improving overall service to the community by:

Providing regular trainings, in-service opportunities, and reflective supervision for staff.

Building collaborative partnerships with agencies and organizations in the community.

Your generosity allows us to say YES to those that need us most. You’ve inspired us with your kindness and we will continue to serve this community with the highest regard. Together, we will make Champaign County a better community for all.

Books from BrekDid you know that 61% of American families don’t have any books in their homes for their children? Crisis Nursery is lucky to partner with Books from Brek to support early literacy efforts within the home environment.

“ During home visits with a family, we’ve been monitoring the child’s communication. Books provide the opportunity for parents to actively speak words to their child on a daily basis. Even if the child is not able to state certain words, she is able to turn the pages and look at the pictures with parents and older siblings. The family looks forward to adding new books to their home library. Thank you Books from Brek!”

– JOY SUGIHARA, FAMILY SPECIALIST

Ameren Illinois’s Karly Combest presented a generous $3000 donation to support our Safe Children Program. Their Ameren Cares program connects Ameren Illinois with the communities it serves through charitable giving and volunteering. Thank you Ameren!
