If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please visit the shelter so you can see how help is needed and the environment that you’ll be working in. Staff spend many hours a month orienting new volunteers, and only a few people return after their first day. It’s physical work and you will get dirty! The humane Society needs people that will be able to provide help on a regular basis so that the time we spend with new people will ultimately be returned to the animals with long-term help. Each day, volunteers sort and repack that food and other donated items to prepare them for distribution to our Southern Tier communities. We need 500 volunteers every week to help us keep up with the volume of food we receive so no one goes hungry.

The Homesteads are (4) family style care homes for the elderly in Apalachin NY. Volunteers are wanted and encouraged!! Volunteers will interact with residents to play games, complete art and craft projects, socialize and work on various household related tasks! Day time hours are best (work around meal times) and can be discussed when you call to set up a schedule.
