If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please visit the shelter so you can see how help is needed and the environment that you’ll be working in. Staff spend many hours a month orienting new volunteers, and only a few people return after their first day. It’s physical work and you will get dirty! The humane Society needs people that will be able to provide help on a regular basis so that the time we spend with new people will ultimately be returned to the animals with long-term help. Some examples of the help needed are: Help with the cats – cleaning, socializing, photographing, washing dishes/litter boxes. Help with the dogs (if over 18) – walking (with 2-hour training class and weekly commitment of 2 hours), cleaning, photographing, washing dishes. General housekeeping – cleaning the bathing tub, mopping, washing windows, painting, etc Handyman help, Fundraising Event help If you want to become involved, come on down to The Humane Society during our open hours of 12-5pm Tuesday thru Friday and 11-4pm Saturday to check them out and fill out a volunteer application.
