Our HistorySce LifeWorks was founded in the mid-1980’s by parentsof individuals who lived with intellectual disabilities. Dissatisfiedwith the range of existing options for their sons and daughters,they had a dream of alternative services which would notonly provide their children with opportunities and participationin mainstream life, but which would support people in contributingtheir own skills, abilities and resources to society.

This dream, combined with hard work, resulted in theestablishment of Sce LifeWorks (then called Sturgeon CreekEnterprises). Today, Sce LifeWorks is in partnership with hundredsof businesses and supports over 135 individuals throughoutthe city of Winnipeg in achieving their personal goals.

Providing SupportWorking together with families, businesses, and the community,Sce LifeWorks supports people throughout the city of Winnipegwith intellectual disabilities who have a range of abilities andsupport needs. We pride ourselves on providing reliable,flexible and individualized supports tailored to the personand their individual plan for life. Whether the goal iscompetitive employment, work experience, volunteeror leisure activities, we follow the individual’s leadand find opportunities in community based, non-segregated settings that match their interests.

Volunteer through Best Buddies—Sce LifeWorks is theWinnipeg Host Agency for Best Buddies Canada, a nationalcharitable organization dedicated to creating one-to-onefriendships between people with disabilities and students.If you are a university or college student, get involved! Thenext friend you make may just be your best buddy. Become involved with the Golden Plate Gala—Each fall, Sce LifeWorks hosts one major fundraiser, theGolden Plate Gala. The Gala is one-of-a-kind eveningfeaturing a seven-course meal, entertainment, awardsceremony and silent auction. If you are interested inattending the Gala, would like to donate something toour silent auction, or would like to know more aboutsponsorship opportunities, please call our office.
