The following are the terms and conditions upon which the ordering party (“Customer”) may order goods from The Genie Company (the “Company”).
ACCEPTANCE – All orders are subject to acceptance by the Company. The Company may refuse any order for any reason. No order will be binding on the Company unless and until it is accepted in writing by the Company.
SALES TERMS AND CONDITIONS – If any order is accepted by the Company, the terms and conditions of sale of the goods sold by the Company to the Customer shall be those contained on this order form, those contained on the Company’s invoice, and if applicable, those contained in any existing Distribution Agreement or sales agreement signed by the Company and the Customer. Customer’s order shall constitute acceptance of these terms and conditions of sale. Any inconsistent or additional terms or conditions in any purchase order or other document from Customer shall not apply, and shall be deemed rejected by the Company not withstanding any subsequent shipment, acceptance of payment or other act by the Company.
ADDITIONAL TERMS – All orders will also be subject to the standard terms and conditions in the Company’s Invoice and Order Acknowledgment. No additional terms submitted by Customer, whether on Customer’s Purchase Order or any other document, shall operate to change or supersede any of the Company’s provisions, and any such terms and conditions submitted by Customer are specifically rejected and shall have no force and effect.
CREDIT LIMITS – Customer’s credit limits will apply to all orders. The Company may decline to ship any accepted order if, prior to shipment, Customer’s account is not within Customer’s credit terms and credit limits established by the Company.
PRICING – If order pricing is incorrect, the Company may correct it with notice to Customer. Special discounts and all other non-standard pricing will only apply upon written confirmation of such pricing by the Company. In the absence of such confirmation, the Company’s standard pricing to Customer will apply.
DELIVERY – All orders shall be for the Company’s normal delivery schedule unless otherwise confirmed in writing by the Company. The Company may change requested delivery dates with notice to Customer.
TAXES – Sales use, consumption, storage or other taxes if applicable, shall be paid by the Customer.
DEDUCTIONS – All deductions must be pre-approved by the Company. The Company may bill Customer’s account for unauthorized deductions.
DISPUTES – Customer is required to check order acknowledgments for errors and notify the Company immediately. Customer is required to notify the Company’s
Credit Department of document discrepancies within 30 days of document (invoice, credit memo, statement) date.
ORDER CANCELLATION – Orders cannot be cancelled after shipment. Non-standard product may be subject to a cancellation fee, in an amount determined by the Company, which may be up to the amount of the purchase price of the cancelled order.
WARRANTY* – The Company’s standard limited warranty for the product purchased shall apply. THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The Company neither assumes, nor authorizes any other party or person to assume for it, any other obligation or liabilities in connection with the sale of the product purchased.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY – IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OR LIABLE TO CUSTOMER FOR SPECIAL, INDIRECT, COLLATERAL, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, resulting from the Company’s performance or non-performance hereof, even if the Company has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Such excluded damages include, but are not limited to, loss of goodwill, loss of profits, loss of use, interruption of business, or other damages resulting from any delay, act, error or omission of the Company or any subcontractor of the Company.
FORCE MAJEURE – The Company shall have no liability to Customer for delay or failure to perform, in whole or in part, by reason of acts of war, civil commotion, riot, acts of public enemies, fire, explosion, earthquake, epidemic, flood, cyclone, hurricane or tornado, strike, labor trouble, equipment breakage, accident, acts of governmental authority, acts of God or any other contingencies beyond the reasonable control of the Company.
FREIGHT – Payment of all freight charges shall be made in accordance with the terms of the relevant invoice. When shipment is made by common carrier, risk of loss shall pass to Customer at the Company’s plant upon shipment.
PAYMENT – The Company will invoice Customer with each shipment. Customer agrees to pay each invoice in accordance with the terms set forth on the invoice. Payment must be received on or before dates indicated on the invoice.
SERVICE CHARGE – The Company may charge a service charge equal to the lesser of either (i) two percent (2%) per month on all past due amounts, or (ii) the maximum monthly interest charge permitted under applicable law.
STATE LAW – This order will be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio.

– Duty Cycle Selection
The GCL operators are broken down into duty-cycle segments based on the number of cycles required per hour. Note that not all types of operators are available in each duty cycle.
– Horsepower Selection
Once the correct operator model type has been selected, the horsepower can be determined. Refer to the door “Commercial Operator Sectional Door Chart” chart on a following page. Select the door type being used at the top of the page and then move down the square footage chart until the previously-selected operator model is shown in the correct horsepower to accommodate your door.

The correct voltage will need to be determined based on your installation. For MultiVolt™ capable operators, the operator can be selected based upon phase (1 or 3).

– Handing
Handing must be specified on GCL-H operators. GCL-GH operators are shipped right-hand only from the factory, but easily can be field-changed to left hand. The GCL-MH model is only available in right-hand version.
GCL Part Number Structure
GCL operators use a part numbering system which describes the duty cycle, model, horsepower, voltage, phase and other characteristics of each operator. The part number framework is below. The values to be loaded into the part number are determined through the selection of the operator. Please see each section 1 – 8 for how to build a complete part number.
– Environmental Modification
GCL operators are available with several environmental options. These options range from a non-ventilated motor to a complete Nema 4X operator. Please refer to the modification table below for model and option information.

1. Total door weight, and not the square footage, is the critical factor in selecting the proper operator. Square foot measurements are based on “square doors” (example = 16’ x 16’).
2. Doors that require special wind-loading and wide doors normally require increased strutting (reinforcement). Strutting doors can significantly increase door weight beyond maximum weight shown. Consult with door customer service for the impact of wind load and strutting on square foot limits.
3. The following doors are roughly equivalent. Square foot values above are based on the doors listed above, but may be applied to the doors below as well.

4. “UL listed” refers to the operator alone, not the operator-door combination
5. Door options such as AFV sections can add significant weight to a door. Consult with the door customer service for the impact of particular options on size limits.

7. For “Aluminum Full View” category, various glazing options are available. The chart above is based in all cases on the heaviest glazing available.

1. Max recommended door speeds for side/center mount operators:

2. Excessive door speed can result in throwing door cables, therefore do not use sprocket/drum combinations in the dark grayed out areas of the chart.
3. The larger the door size and weight, the slower the door speed should be for good service and life.
4. Maximum speed has been calculated using full-drum taper diameter and this speed occurs just as the door meets the floor. If less than full drum capacity is used, the maximum speed will be less.
5. Shaft drive operators used with standard track should use pusher springs and additional horizontal track rise.
