INSURANCEInsurance
Health InsuranceHealth insurance is compulsory to enroll at the Rhein-Main University of Applied Sciences.
For EU citizensPlease ask your health insurance at home for the Eu-ropean Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or proof that your health insurance will be covered for the length of your stay in Germany.
For all other studentsYou can take out health insurance in Germany (for approx. € 75 /month). Most foreign health insurance policies have to fulfill certain requirements to be ac-cepted in Germany. If you choose this option, please make sure the amount of the policy is sufficient to cover all health expenses for the length of your stay. Travel insurance will NOT be sufficient for enrollment.
Accident and Liability InsuranceAs an enrolled student at RheinMain University of Ap-plied Sciences, you will automatically have accident and liability insurance, provided by Studentenwerk Frankfurt (association for student affairs). Howev-er, these insurances are only valid during your study time at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, not during your leisure time. We therefore recommend taking out an additional private accident and liability insurance.
Entry requirements for Germany
Students with EU citizenship do not need a visa to enter Germany. Citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, South Ko-rea, Switzerland or the USA do not need to apply for a visa before entering Germany, but they will be invited to apply for a residence permit at the Office for Immigration and Integration after declaring their place of residence.
All other students have to apply for a study visa at the German em-bassy / consulate in their home countries. We will send you an official invitation letter for your visa application. Finally, both EU and non-EU citizens have to declare their place of residence in the city they live in. Registration must be carried out in person at the city hall (“Bür-gerbüro”) within two weeks of arrival.

/ Why did you choose Germany for your study abroad period?
I chose Germany for my study abroad period because I've studied my whole life in a German school in Brazil and was very familiar with the culture and language. Besides this, Germany is a country that offers a great life quality and job opportunities, and where I was sure I'd be able to make the most out of my exchange semester.
/ Do you speak or understand German?
Yes, I speak German. However, I'm sure that even if I didn't speak German it wouldn't be a problem here, as many German people speak English and are very helpful.
/ Up to now, what do you enjoy most about RheinMain University of Applied Sciences? Why would you recommend it to your fellow students?
My favorite part about the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences is how the staff value their exchange students and do everything to make us feel wel-come in the country. The university and
/ Why did you choose Germany for your study abroad period?
My aunt lives in Munich, so every time I told her I wanted to be an Erasmus student, she always recommended Ger-many, which has the best educational program. Besides, I really love that the weather is not as hot as in Spain.
/ Do you speak or understand German?
I have been studying German since I was 15 years old, but I am not comple-tely fluent. I think I could manage to un-derstand everything in a normal conver-sation, but I would not feel as confident when trying to answer.

OFFERS A GREAT LIFE QUALITY«
the international tutors even organize weekly activities, which are affordable and very fun, besides helping us with bureaucratic matters. Not only this, the university is very flexible when it comes to choosing classes and taking exams, which make the whole exchange se-mester way less stressful.
/ How do you like the city of Wiesbaden?
Even though Wiesbaden is a small city, compared to where I come from, the-re's always something going on and new places to discover. Besides that, it's located near to other cities as Mainz and Frankfurt, which broadens the ran-ge of places to go.
/ Anything else you would like to tell us?
I'd like to thank the international office staff and tutors for making us feel so valued and important to the university, and always being kind and willing to help us with questions and problems we might have.

/ Up to now, what do you enjoy most about RheinMain University of Applied Sciences? Why would you recommend it to your fellow students?
All the campuses are so beautiful, and the best part is that all of them are dif-ferent from each other. It is almost like they have a theme designed only for it (WBS looks like an old and serious building, Unter den Eichen looks like a mystical and filmic forest…). Besides, the teachers have a very close appro-ach to the students, they even give us their phone number! (I do not think I have ever texted one of my teachers in Spain…)
/ How do you like the city of Wies-baden?
I believe sometimes Wiesbaden is not appreciated as much as it should be, because it is a big city with lots of amazing views (you just have to visit Neroberg and you will know I am right). Besides, if you really feel like you miss the hustle and bustle of the big cities, you are just one hour away from Frank-furt!

/ Why did you choose Germany for your study abroad period?
I chose Germany to do my studies because I think it is a country with many good characteristics that I can try to ad-opt and transmit in my country. I also consider it the strongest country in re-lation to my career 'Engineering'. I am also motivated by the idea of learning German and improve my English.
/ Do you speak or understand German?
I am studying German, but at an initial level A1.2. I try to practice it with the friendships that I have made in the fa-culty. But in truth it is a difficult langua-ge to learn, it is my opinion.
/ Up to now, what do you enjoy most about RheinMain University of Applied Sciences? Why would you recommend it to your fellow students?
The predisposition of teachers and staff, the quality and dynamics of the cour-ses. The technology of the classrooms and the building. Of course I would re-commend it is a beautiful institution.
/ Anything else you would like to tell us?
Yes, I have attended many parties orga-nized by ASTA in the engineering facul-ty and I have to say that they do a very good job and activities
»I WILL COME BACK NEXT YEAR«
/ What is your favourite part concer-ning your stay? The whole experience is an adventure, I cannot choose but there is a lot of good things: the people that you meet here, the opportunities that university has here, to live with people of another countries or the facilities to travel Euro-pe. Also is good to take distance from your comfort zone to open your mind.
/ What are the biggest differen-ces / commonalities as a student in comparison to your country / school? The flexibility of the studies that you have here, in Spain the method is much more static.
/ How has your view of Germany changed since coming here? I knew that Germany is a country with a lot of possibilities and facilities for young people but it was not in my future plans. Now I think it’s a country where I would like to live.
/ What have you learned during your stay? Can you name three or more things? Of course I learnt a lot about design and new softwares and ways of work. Apart from that, I think the language is something that I really improved here (English and German). And of cour-se I learnt how beautiful are here the Christmas markets! I will come back next year :)
/ Why was coming to Germany a good decision? It was a really good decision, I’m really happy about all the things that I made here and the people that I met here. I have really good friends now from all over the world.
