About this photo

Quarry Hill Farm, a 320-acre site owned by the Town of Waldoboro, was placed in a conservation easement with Medomak Valley Land Trust in 2005. The easement ensures that the land will forever remain as undeveloped open space managed for the use and enjoyment of town residents.

Quarry Hill Farm is open to fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, hunting and cross-country skiing. The town has leased land to local farmers who harvest blueberries, squash, corn and other crops from the farmland portion of property.

Waldoboro is a historic community dating from the 1600s located on the Medomak River, just off Route 1. This scenic town has a rich maritime and farming history that is reflected its charming village homes and area farms. Picturesque and quiet, this community is a year-round tourist attraction for those looking to relax “off the beaten path.” It is the largest town in Lincoln County, spreading over 75 square miles, with a population of approximately 5,000 people.

In addition to a vibrant artist community, Waldoboro has a variety of industries including fiber, natural health and food, and a healthy clam fishery. Our many farms raise everything from fruits, vegetables, flowers, and rare heritage breed livestock in addition to others such as alpacas, llamas, horses, sheep, goats, pigs and chickens. Waldoboro is home to many knowledgeable business people, service providers and cultural organizations.

Our town’s harbor, river and ponds are ideal for boating and kayaking, and there are scenic areas for horseback riding, hiking, biking or simply enjoying a drive. Our historic cemeteries and churches are open to the public, and an active Historical Society maintains a museum with many attractions including a very rare and historic fire-fighting apparatus–one of only two known to still exist.

In winter there is ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating, snow- shoeing and cross country skiing to enjoy...or just sitting by a cozy fire.
