Jaimi said prior to the shooting on04-20-99, she didnot knowwhoDylanKleboldor EricHarriswereand said in fact that she did not knowany ofthe TrenchCoat Mafia studentsby name. Jaimi saidshe rememberedthat whenshe was in the 8th grade and attending Ken Caryl Middle School, she was present when representatives of Columbine HighSchool talkedto themiddle school studentsto preparethemforhighschool. Jaim:said these representativestold theKenCar: IMiddle Schoolstudents to avoid anyof theTrenchCoatMafiastudents. Jaimisaidshedid avoid theTrenchCoatMafiastudentswhen she began high school at Columbine HighSchool. She said she did not pay any attention to the Trench CoatMafiastudents, but did recall during the fall of 1998, she saw. malestudent, she believed to be a TrenchCoat Mafia student in thehallway ofColumbineHigh School, Jaimi describedthis personas a whitemale. approximately6'2" tall, skinny in build.with"messed up teeth" and had shoulder length blondhair. She saidhe waswearing a black baseballcap on backwards, all blackclothingand a black trench coat that she wassaid was fadedblack,and was madeout of somethingother than leather. She saidthis trenchcoatwas belowthe knees,but abovethefloor in length. Jaimisaidafterlookingthroughher ColumbineHigh Schoolyearbook, she said she now believes this personwas

    I asked JairniNorden if she has heard about anybodyelsewhomayhave been involved in the shooting incident at ColumbineHighSchoo!on 04-20-99. Jairnisaid she hasheard rumorsfrom other srudenrs that may havepossiblybeeninvolved becausehe was friendswithDylanKlebcldandEricHarris. Jaimi,however,couldnotprovideanyspecificsabouthow_wa s possibly involved. She said it appears that what she heard were rumors only. Jaimi said she does not knowofanybody.norhas sheheardanyrumorsabout anybody wbomay bemanufacturing explosivedevicesand/or possessingor sellingfirearms.

    I asked Jaimi Nordenhow both she and her family have beendoingsincethe incidentat ColumbineHigh School on04-20-99Jairn: said that theyhave all been doing fairlywell,however, I didgivehermynameandphone number andaskedher to contactme in the future if anyone in her family wants to speak witha l.C.S.C. Victim Advocate. I advised her I wouldmake thenecessaryarrangements for themat that time.

    Kevin Olsensaidon 4-20-99, at about0725 hours, he arrived atColumbine H.S. forhisscheduled classes. Kevinsaidhis firsthourclassbeganat about0730hours andis a biology class. Thisclassis from 073Q.0820 hours, andwhentheclasswas overon 4-20-99, Kevin said hewentthrough the cafeteria/commons areato thevending machines on thewest sideof thecafeteria,by the teachers lounge. Kevin saidhe hadto gotothe vending machines between firstand secondhourclassesbecause heisa diabeticand his blood sugar levelwas low. Kevin said hedidnot see anyduffelbags or propane tanks suchas those laterrecovered inColumbine H.S,while hewaspassing through thecafeteria.     OnWednesday, July 14, 1999, at approximately 1105 hours. [ contacted wimess Ortiz by telephone at his residence, I asked himto provide me anything he may haveseenor heard relevant to theshooting, whichoccurred on April 20. 1999. Witness Ortiz?ravided mewit." the following information: He advised thathe was inhis classroom during5thhourandhadheardnoises inthehallway, when he stepped outandsawnumerous students running east through thehall. He indicated thata female student.name unknown. hadturneda Corner andyelled. "He's gota gun." Hethen saidhe had heardtwogunshots. A, thispoint, hesaidhestartedleading students downthemath hallway and at thesamelimewasgoingclassby class andevacuating studentsand,eachers in thisparticular area. WitnessOrtizsaidthatheproceeded outside, although hecouldnot bespecific as towhichdoorhe actually exitedwhenhe started running inan easterly direction across the student parking lot. Hesaidhe had heard acouple of teachers yelling his name andheaded toward their location. where hesawa student, identified asStephanie Munson,laying on the ground. It appeared thatshehadbeen shotinthe ..nkle. Hesaid thathe hadbriefly assisted herandthenwenttoobtain somehelp. Hesaid that hedirected anotherreacher, Gordon Hayes, tostaywith her. Hesaid that heproceeded backtowards thestudent parking lot,ontheleftsideofPierce. Hesaw a deputy andasked himto callan ambulance. HeW\lS informedby this particular deputy. nameunknown, thathewasnotable tocall for an ambulance at that time. Hesaidthat he could seeanambulance somewhere on Pierce Street andhadgone totalkto those particular paramedics, butwaslaid that theareahadnotbeencleared by lawenforcement andtheywerenotallowed toproceed intotheareaanyfurther thantheywere, Hesaid that hethen metanother teacher. Jessicasaid from theGymlDance comboclass. shewent to her fifth hour class, aGeometry class.the teachers beingMs.Mooreand Mr. Ortiz. whichis locatedon the upper level of ColumbineHighSchool.Jessica said to get fromher Spanishclassto her lifthhourclassshehadto go through thecafeteriaand up the stairway from thecafeteria/commons area to the upper level ofColumbineHighSchool, Jessica saidshedid not recall seeinganyof the suspiciousitemsoranyof theTrenchCoatMafiastudents on herway to this class, Jessicasaidafterarriving inherGeometry classa veryshorttime latersheheardapproximately tengunshots. and saidto herthey sounded liketheywerecoming from somewhere close10 herroomshewashiding in. Jessica saida Columbine HighSchool teacherstopped trafficalongSouthPierceStreet. allowingthestudentsto run from the school, acrossPierceStreetand intoLeawood Park. Jessica saidaftergetting intoLeawood Parkthe teachers toldthe studentsto stay in thepark. Approximately twenty minutes laterJessicasaidshe heardapproximately fivemotegunshotsand thenheard someone say the shotswerebeingdirectedat people in LeawoodParle Jessica saidshe began-unning from LeawoodParkinto the subdivision around theLeawood area togetaway from thehigh school, Jessica saidwhen

She saidthey woulddress inall blackclothingand someof themwouldwear trenchcoats.possibly madeoutof canvas, thatwereapproximately knee length. I asked Jessicaifshe knewDylanKleboldpriorto theshooting. ShesaidheknewwhoDylanKlebold was fromseeinghim in thehigh schoolparking lotwithhis friends. Shesaidthe last time shesawDylanKlebold in theparkinglotwasapproximately twomonths priortothe shooting. She said 'he did not talkto himandhe did not talkto her. Jessica saidsheonly knewwhoDylanwasat thattime, she did not know hisname priorto theshooting,

    Jessica saidpriorto 04-20-99, shedid notknowwhoEricHarris was. I askedJessica howsheknewthatDylanKlebold wasoneof theTrenchCoatMafiastudentsthat shehadseenin a parking lot. Jessicasaidshe is friends withZochHecklerandhadmetZach in a Forensic classat Columbine HighSchool. Shesaid thatZachwouldtalkwithDylanKleboldandthey appeared tobefriends, however, shedid notknowif shewouldclassify him asa Trench CoatMafiaassociateandwhenI askedher if shewouldclassify himas an associate, shesaid, "I don't know, 1guessso:' Jessicasaid thatother thantn talkwithZachonce ina while,shedid not knowanythingabouthim. She did saythat hedid not dress in the "Gothic"mannernordidhe wear a trenchcoat.

Chanelle stated around 1123 hours they heard what appeared to be students running in the hallway and their teacherinitially pausedand appeared to be wondering whatwas goingon. Shortly afterthat they heard an unidentified male voiceyelling, "On myGod.he's got a gun." Just afterthat anotherteacherby the nameof Mr.Bundy, camein theclassroom andtoldthestudents thattheyneeded to leave. ChaneJle statedthatsheexitedfrom the classroom andraneast downthehall,exitedfrom the schooland went to LeawoodPark. Chaneile statedshehad no additional information reference the group. [asked if she knew about Eric Harris' web site. She stated she did not.I asked if there were any rumors about the date4-20-99. She slatedshe did not hear any rumors.

    On 04-29-99 we interviewed Chris Riley w ith his mother present. Chris~ < l e y had a couple of classes with Eric Har ri s, he didn ' t l ike him much but

    I t his distance no confl ic t as far as arguments or f ights . Chris Rileyhds ~ ~ o w n Klebold since 2nd grade.Chris Riley is involved in weight l i f t ing and played football hisfreshman year a t Columbine High School. Chris is in bowling class , and hasbowled against Harris ' s team which included Klebold.Chris Riley recal ls a video which Harris made for class . His moviewas not shown to th e s chool.

    Chris Riley was ups ta ir s in a math class when the shooting started.He was able to exi t the school and was able to get home sometime around12:00 pm (noon). He doesn' t recal l seeing any of the shoocers or bombs.On April 20th, Chris Riley r eCal ls S e e i n g ~ t in his car"Flying down ~ i e r c e Streec". He remembers seeing a one in the car.I t appeared to Chris Riley he was headed towards Chat eld at about 11:50am to 12:00 pm. This he saw af t e r he was out of the school and on his wayte .

    Scot t s t a t e d he i s a s tudent a t CHS and was i n Ms McWilliam's mathc l a s s around l l :25am on 4/20/99. He r e c a l l e d t h a t s h o r t l y a f t e rg e t t i n g t o c l a s s , s e v e r a l kids began running i n the hal lway outsidethe classroom. He was not sure what was going on, but many kids i nthe c l a s s s te pp ed o ut o f the room. About t h i s t ime he heard 2-3 loud"booms" from t h e west end o f the bui lding. A few seconds l a t e r MrO r t i z ( teacher) y e l l e d "get the fuck out o f here" t o t h e s t u d e n t s .The f i r e alarms went o f f about t h i s same t ime. S c o t t r e c a l l e d t h a ta t t h i s p o i n t he r e a l i z e d something was s e r i o u s . He and s e v e r a ls tudents e x it e d t h e emergency e x i t doors i n the math department abovethe j u n i o r parking l o t . Scot t s t a t e d he held open the door f o rstudents, f o r s e v e r a l seconds. He than ran down the h i l l towardsthe j u n i o r parking below the doors he had e x i t e d . He heard a loud'boom" behind him. He looked behind and saw smoke from an explos ioni n t h e s e n io r parking l o t near some c a r s . He could not be s p e c i f i cwhere he Saw t h i s explosion, as he was running away, but r e c a l l e d itwas d e f i n i t e l y i n the s e n i o r parking l o t . S c o t t did n ot en cou nteranybody with a weapon o r anyone wearing a t renchcoat on t h i s s i d e o fthe b u i l d i n g .

He lookedfu r ther back towards the school and saw a s ingle person wearing blackclothing s tanding o uts id e th e main entran ce o f the s ch oo l h old in g upwhat appeared to be a handgun and point ing in the d i rec t ion of thefemale who had fa l l en down near the crosswalk. This table is locatednext to the stairwaythat leadsto the second floorof ColumbineHighSchooland is inthe middlefromnorth to south. Lisa Steepleton saidshewaswith other students in thecafeteriaby thenamesof KimMohrbacher, DanMohrbacher, AubrenHummell. TysonKynapkeandDavidSchulte. Lisa Steepietoncould not recallwhere at thetableshewassitting orwhichdirection shewas facing. Shecouldnot recall where the other studentssat at the table. LisaSteepleton saidwhenshe left the cafeteriaon 042099, at about 1110'tours, shewent to hermath class,whichis located in a classroom onthesecond levelof the school. LisaSteepleton said on IJ4.2099.at about1120hours,while in themath class.sheheardwhatsoundedlike toher.a fighttakingplacein thehallwayoutsideofthe classroom,on the upper level of the school,and saidshe thenheard two gunshots. She said her mathteacher,Mr. Ortiz.wentoutof theclassroom to see whatwas goingon, andan unknownfemale told him that someonehad a gun. lisa SteepletonsaidMr Ortiz hadthe students in themathclasseventually runfrom theclassroom andoutsidethe school. LisaSteepleton saidshe then went across South Pierce Street to Leawood Park. I asked Lisa Steepleton if she heard any unusual noises fromLeawood Parkand she saidno. I askedher ifsheheardany gunshots whileshe was inLeawoodPark and she saidshedid nothearany gunshots. nor did she see anyonewitha firearm at Columbine HighSchool shootingTOward LeawoodPark.

    I showedthe photographsof the duffle bag and the propanetank to LisaSteepleton thatwere later recovered in the cafeteria.LisaSteepleton said she did not see either itemin the cafeteriaprior to the incident. Lisa Steepleronalso said she did nat seeanything unusual occur, nor did she see any suspicious people in the cafeteria prior to the incident

    On 07-0799, I was assigned an investigative lead to contactMr.Shawn Tank andhisstudents in reference to the incident that.r:at Columbine High School on 04-20-99. Hereis a synopsis of those interviews thatI conducted,On07-08-99, between thehours of0840 and0853, I hadan opportunity to speak with Shawn Tank, who was a faculty memberat Columbine HighSchool. Mr. Tank statedthathis fifth periodMath class began at about 1115 hours andhis classroom islocatedinthefareastwing of theMath/Science hallway. Between thehours ofl120 and1122,Mr. Tankexplained thatheheardseveralstudentS running down the hallway andcould see them running outof the school east into the park aCrOSS PierceStreetMr.Tankwalked out into thehallway, telling methe expression onthestudents' faces andtheirdemeanor leadhim to believethat therewas something wrong at the school. Mr. Tank returned to hisclass, where heordered his class to exit the buildmg.As he was directing his students out of the school, he recalls that the fire alarms sounded and as he walked out into theMath/Science hallway, he recalls that the fire doors, which wereto the westofhisclassroom, began to close. Mr. Tankdidnotexit from the school until hehadchecked theotherMathclasseswhich arein a horseshoe shape down inthe areaof his class.After checking tomake surethat those classrooms Were cleared, be then leftthebuilding. Mr. Tankexplained to methat oncehe leftthebuilding, henever looked westdown the hallway, hejustwalked outof the building and Went overtoLeawood Park.

Once Brandi sawDylan, shestarted tomove north down the hallway toward thecounseling office, atwhich time sherecalls hearing severalotherstudents running eastdo.. As JessicawasonherwaybacktoMr.Tank's class, she stated thatjust afterthepassingbellhadrangaround JI 15 to 1117, shehadjust reached thebathrooms, which are located attheeast endofmeMath/Science hallway, whenshe hearda couple ofgunshots which werecoming from behindher,butshecouldn'tgivemetheexactlocation in the schoolwhere thegunshots were coming from, Jessica quickly glancedwestdown thehallway anddescribed seeing twO individualsdressed in black running dcwn thestairs intothecafeteria area. Jessica wasunable to provide anydescription to helpwith theidentityof these subjects. Shedidsaythatshe thought it was Eric HarrisandDylan Klebold, butagain, shecouldprovide nodescription. After these two individuals randown into thecafeteria, sherecalled several students from the cafeteria came runningup thestairs, running east toward herand they wereyelling, "They're shooting, getoutof the school."     On 0708-99, at about 1300hours, I contactedwitness JoshuaTrygstadby telephone. Josh Is a student at Columbine HighSchool, This interviewwas in referenceto the shootingthat occurred on 04-20-99at ColumbineHigh School.

    JoshuaTrygstadadvisedme on 04-20.99, he arrivedat Columbine HighSchaal for his scheduled classes withhis first classbeginningat 0830 hours. Joshuasaid this class lasteduntilapproximately 0920 hours, Hesaid that hehad second periodofffrom any classes. Joshuasaid thathewentdownintothecafeteria ofColumbine HighSchoolwith a mend of his by the nameofKevinElsmore duringsecondhour. Joshuasaidthatwhile 'vir.Ortizwasgone fromthe classroom. heheard "threepops" andthenMr.Ortiz camerunningback intotheclassroom. Joshuasaidat firstMr.Ortiztold thestudentsto stay in the classroom. however,a lewminuteslater,Mr.Ortiz changedhismindandtold the students to run out of the school and away from it, Joshua saidasall the studentswere running out of the classroom.the firealarm for Columbine HighSchoolwent off, Joshua said thatafterexitingthe classroom. he ran down to the end of the hallwayand outside of the school throughthe door that is at theend of thenall. Apparently thisdoorison theeast sideof Columbine High School. Joshuasaidafterexitingthe school he ranacrossSouthPierceStreetand intoLeawoodParkwhere therewereseveralotherstudents in the park as well. Joshua told me thatwhile hewasin theLeawoodPark,hedidnot hear anymoregunshots. however. hesaid that bedidhear twoexplosions, andtoldmethattheypossiblycame from theparking lotof Columbine High School. Joshuasaidhe did not see these bombs detonated nor didheseeanysmoke. Joshuasaidaftertheexplosions. he saidhe couldsmellgunpowder in thearea, Joshua said while inLeawoodPark, somebodysaid that the suspectshad exited Columbine HighSchooland at that point the teachers at Leawood Parktoldthe students to run away fromLeawood Park. Joshuasaid whenhe heard theexplosions. he looked toward ColumbineHighSchool, however. he did not see any of the suspects. either withor without firearmsoutside of the school. through the glasswindows.nor did he see anybody right insideof the glassdoors of the school.

Headvised mehe did notknowanything about fhem otherthan fhe fact that upthe streetfromhishouse.a person bythe nameof Joe.anditmaypossiblyhe JoeStairlivesat that residence.Joshuasaid that he knowsthat Dylan KleboldandEricHarrishavebeenover to10eStair's house. Joshuasaid that he has seenKlebold andHarriswalkupanddownhisstreet, WestFrostPlace. Joshuasaid thathehasnevertalked to anyof theTrenchCoatMafia students nor has he seen them harass anybody.
