Welcome to Guide 1: Career and Life Planning! In the world of work, the majority of success stories are not sports figures, celebrities or public figures. Most people who are leading fulfilled lives have found a way to connect their skills, preferences and values to the world around them. While we live in an unpredictable time, we can still feel confident about career potential and our goals. Shift away from the idea that “career and life planning” is a one-time decision and toward learning to be open-minded and to create opportunity. Through this class, you will develop self-awareness, global awareness and self-marketing skills that will help you explore and navigate careers over your lifespan. Let’s go exploring!!

As the instructor, I will serve as the guide and facilitator, and I hope you will play an active role is the learning process. Additionally, I truly believe that your experience will be better if you communicate with your fellow students throughout the semester.

Points are earned through a variety of activities. The total number of points earned will determine your grade. Points are recorded on Blackboard, so you will be able to keep track of your grade. Please contact me immediately if you find any discrepancies so they may be resolved as early as possible.

NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

All online posts and assignments must be submitted no later than 11:59pm on the date indicated in the course schedule/weekly module.

Expectations and due dates are made very clear and if you encounter circumstances (including technical difficulties), it is your responsibility to communicate with the instructor to make alternative arrangements before the due date. This means the instructor and you have agreed on the arrangements, not just you emailing and assuming it will be accepted.
