Chrysler Group LLC, theautomaker controlled byFiat SpA, will start sellingthese NGVs this year,
announced Sergio Marchionne, chief executive officer of bothcompanies. “We are going tobring them here, there is nodoubt,” he said in an interview atthe 2012 North AmericanInternational Auto Show inDetroit. Sales will be “limited atfirst. It depends upon the distribution network.”Sales of compressed natural gaspowered pickups will begin tofleet customers, according tospokesman David Elshoff. However, he declined to state
whether Chrysler will target particular buyers such as government or commercial customers, reported Bloomberg.com.Marchionne also said that CNGengines are the “best option.” Hehas argued they are cheaper thancompeting technologies and thatelectric cars, which competitorssuch as General Motors Co.,Nissan Motor Co. and ToyotaMotor Corp. are marketing, present “too many obstacles”such as the recharge time for batteries. Fiat, which owns 58.5 percent ofMichigan-based Chrysler, alreadyhas engines using compressednatural gas in Europe.

The Roaring ForkTransportation Authority(RFTA) plans to renovatepart of its fleet, as it
prepares to implement theexpanded Bus Rapid Transitsystem next year. “Encana ismaking a substantial fundingaward to RFTA to cover a portionof the cost of upgrading 22 newbuses to run on compressednatural gas,” Sher Long, stakeholder relations advisor forEncana Oil & Gas.
In turn, the bus operator waspreparing to issue a formalrequest for proposals this weekseeking companies to install the
necessary infrastructure for aCNG station. “If things go welland we are able to do this, wewould like to develop some partnerships to build a publicfueling station in the GlenwoodSprings area,” said RFTA CEO DanBlankenship.
The initiative may include thefinancial participation of GarfieldCounty, whose CommissionerTom Jankovsky is interested inpartnering with RFTA and facilitating the CNG bus conversion. “This is important forus in Garfield County. We are nowa big exporter of natural gas, andwe need to find uses for it here.
This is a better way to do that,”he said.
The Governor's Energy Office, aswell as local entities such as theCommunity Office for ResourceEfficiency and Garfield CleanEnergy, are also interested infacilitating the expansion of CNGfueling stations and CNG-powered fleets. The upgrading will involve up to$3.1 million more in costs for thebuses and related infrastructure, said Blankenship. The agencyplans to have four test buses inoperation by January 2013, andthe remainder of the new fleet inplace by June 2013.

DFW Airportgives privilegeto CNG taxis
Last Thursday, theDallas/Fort Worth Airportboard approved anincentive program, which
has no start date, to allowtaxicabs that use compressednatural gas to jump to the frontof the line. It marks the secondtime that airport officials havetried to enforce the initiative. The previous attempt took placein 2009, but some drivers did notsupport the plan. However, inOctober, a temporary restrainingorder preventing the policy wasdissolved, allowing the airport tomove forward, according to DFWspokesman David Magaña.
Of the 2,000 cabs licensed tooperate at the airport, 137 usenatural gas. By offering anincentive to drivers to converttheir vehicles, the airport hopesto reduce emissions. "All we'retrying to do is clean the air up,"said Magaña, adding that the airport has had a clean-air policysince 2000 and has more than600 CNG buses, trucks and carsin its fleet. "It's a challenge, but I think wemust understand why we aredoing this, and that is to makesure we do our part in thisregion," said Dallas Mayor MikeRawlings in support of the policy.

Industry and governmentrepresentatives have recentlymet in Ottawa to launch theimplementation of a roadmap
that will guide market developmentfor natural gas as a transportationfuel in the country.
The initiative will mainly focus onmedium- and heavy trucks andbuses that operate in regionalcorridors and urban fleets."Greater use of natural gas intransportation is a win/win forCanada," said Wayne Geis, VicePresident of Encana Corporation, and incoming Chair of theCanadian Natural Gas VehicleAlliance (CNGVA).
"Natural gas is an affordable,lower-emission fuel and industryis making significant investmentsto bring it into the transportationmarket. Collaboration will accelerate fleet use and generatethe right conditions for evengreater private sector investment."
Facilitated by Natural ResourcesCanada, the kick-off meetingincluded representatives ofCanada's trucking, oil and gas, manufacturing, and transportation industries.
A federal roundtable report wasreleased early this year, also welcomed by the CNGVA.However, this meeting representsa major step forward for theNatural Gas Use in the CanadianTransportation Sector -Deployment Roadmap initiativedeveloped by all stakeholdergroups.
According to the CNGVA, natural gas use in vehicles can open a new market for anabundant Canadian resource and help offset declining exportsto the U.S. "The Government of Canada is
committed to working togetherwith the natural gas industry toencourage innovation and jobcreation across Canada andreduce greenhouse gas emissions," added Minister ofNatural Resources Joe Oliver.

Alberta Energy Minister supports LNG initiatives
According to Ted Morton, its province is interestedin backing separateendeavors by Encana
Corp. and Shell Canada Ltd.,with details to come in 2012, toprovide natural gas to heavytransportation. Both companiessay a truck running on methaneemits about 20 per cent lesscarbon than a diesel one, andthat fuel could be 25 to 40 percent cheaper, making the vehicleinvestment payoff about fouryears.Shell will begin fueling LNG-powered trucks next yearat its Flying J truck stops acrossAlberta and plans to build a liquefaction facility by 2013 atits Jumping Pound
gas-processing plant about 30kilometers west of Calgary. In addition, Encana is adding aliquefaction facility to its Cavaliergas plant in Strathmore, to opennext February, so it can supply itsown rigs and customers.“We will be supportive of both
those projects," said Morton, citing success of using both compressed and liquefied naturalgas for transportation in theUnited States, with fleets thatreturn to a central location torefuel. "Vehicle fleets like taxicabs and school buses."

The fleet provider hassigned its first leaseagreement with SourceInterlink Companies, Inc.,
an integrated media, publishingcompany that produces and distributes magazine content toretail locations across the UnitedStates and abroad. The logistics firm will have theflexible option to exchange sevendiesel-powered trucks to naturalgas vehicles. As part of this project, Ryder System is buildingtwo CNG refuelling stations inFontana, Orange, and RanchoDominguez, California.“With a fleet of over 300 vehiclesthat operate across the countryas part of our company, fuelvolatility and cost is an important
issue for us,” said Jim Tate, seniorvice president of Operations,Source Interlink Distribution.“The option of using a cheaperand readily available fuel supplysuch as natural gas to power ourvehicles and mitigate fuel costs isan attractive avenue we wouldlike to explore,” he added. Ryder’s alternative fuel fleetincludes compressed and liquidnatural gas vehicles, which areoffered in certain markets inCalifornia, Arizona and Michigan.“We’ve seen great interest from
our customers for natural gasvehicles across all markets andwill continue to pursue theexpansion of our alternative fuelvehicle offering to meet our customers’ needs,” he said.
We recognize there is a growingneed for sustainable transportation solutions, not only as companies search forways to mitigate fuel costs butalso as they work to reduce theircarbon footprint,” said RobertSanchez, President of GlobalFleet Management Solutions forRyder. It is noteworthy that inApril 2010, the companyannounced a partnership with theSan Bernardino AssociatedGovernments (SANBAG) Board to take delivery of 202 heavy-duty, natural gas-poweredvehicles that would be madeavailable to companies for short-term rentals, long-termleases or Ryder’s dedicated logistics services.

Onefocus is the manufacturing of ourpatented X-Store CNG Type 4 pressure tanks for automotiveretrofits or OEM, heavy-duty bus& truck, and gas storage modules. For 2012 we will continue to focuson broadening the demand forlightweight composite cylindersand providing best in class value. We are highly optimistic aboutthe NGV market developmentparticularly in the US where wewill launch our first US certifiedproducts in 2012. Regarding the NGV market development, we believe thereare significant differences in support for NGVs worldwide. The main reason for unbalanceddevelopment of NGVs is becauseof this scattered support fromnational legislation. This clearlyindicates that the development ofa sustainable NGV market mustlearn from worldwide best practices. Without this politicalsupport NGV introduction is quiteimpossible.

MICROBOX® is, withouta doubt, Galileo’sflagship product.MICROBOX®’s
concept, evolution and its currentmodels, clearly show Galileo’singenuity, technical skills andprogressive mentality. From its inception in 1997 todate, Galileo has sold andinstalled more than 600 units in24 countries in the Americas,Europe, Africa and Asia. The MICROBOX® systemincludes, in a single unit, all theelements necessary for compressing CNG. With the simple addition of a dispenser, aCNG station is complete. As a matter of fact, MICROBOX®was born as a result of the needfor a fire and explosion testingbox that included compressor, motor, storage, Program Logic
Controller, cooling system, fireextinguishing system and a seriesof alarms and sensors to provideits intrinsic safety.Even in the early stages of itsdevelopment, MICROBOX® wasan exceptional compression system with all the fundamentalattributes that turned it into asuccessful product and an attractive alternative to traditionalequipment. Its advantagesinclude: greatly simplified electricwork, reduced space requirements, and previously unthinkableinstallation times.Bottom line, MICROBOX® offerssubstantial savings on everyaspect of the construction of aCNG station.Today, 15 years after its inception, and faithful to the spirit of thecompany’s namesake,MICROBOX® continues to offer
state of the art, advanced technology in CNG equipment.Since 2003, MICROBOX® hasincorporated the ENERSAVESystem, which allows savings inenergy costs by effectively managing electricity usage.During the initial operation of thecompressor, Enersave learns thedemand curve of the station andminimizes energy usage by makingadjustments throughout the day.Over the years, MICROBOX® hasadded important new features, such as the SCADA remote monitoring system that provides, not only monitoring 24/7, butalso control of the system via theinternet. Another importantinnovation, the COLDBOX system, reduces the temperature of thegas flow, improving the vehiclefilling and, consequently, thesales of the station itself.

and easy to install, requiring onlygas and electrical hookups.Galileo has also introduced therevolutionary NANOBOX® , afully self-contained fueling system that can be installed on astandard fueling island. The NANOBOX® ® can also bepaired with time-fill posts to meetthe requirements of light dutyfleets for both fast-fill and timefill options. Both the MICROBOX® andNANOBOX® lines have alreadybeen installed in the USA.Galileo‘s decision to open operations in the United States at this time, is based not only on the great enthusiasm that the American market has shown for its products, but isalso grounded in the firm belief that the use of alternative fuels will experience
rapid growth in United States inthe years to come.Galileo will focus its initial efforts in two specific areas: First Galileo will provide its representative network with post- sales technical support and service, including a stock of spare parts, and offer trainingthrough its technical support center. Second, Galileo willbegin assembling its products in California in order to expeditedelivery times and contribute to local job creation, with the ultimate goal of establishingmanufacturing operations in the United States, We are very confident thatGalileo’s record of success, innovative technology and quality products will ensure its success in the North American market.
