The appointment came following several months of work as a consultant for Collierville and other municipaliaes striving to establish individual school systems.

Aitken reared from Shelby County Schools as Superintendent in March, 2013 aaer serving in that capacity since 2009. Previously he was SCS Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, Leadership & Safety.
