State Officers’

Strategic Plan 2010-2011

Carol Blue, President

Thomas John is currently

attending Albany Technical

College.

Carol Blue attends Atlanta Technical College and is majoring in Marketing Management. She

joined Collegiate DECA in 2008. Carol has never met a stranger, is a very sociable person, and

is a consummate team player. She currently serves as an intern with the Georgia Minority Sup-

plier Development Council and is a Work Study Student for the Department Chair of the Mar-

keting Management Program at Atlanta Tech. Carol also has a catering business. She placed

first in the “Management Institute for Business” category at the DEX International Competition

in 2010 and earned second place in “Hospitality Business Management” at the state conference.

She intends to pursue a B.B.A. in Hospitality Business Management at Georgia State Univer-

sity.

Michelle Coronado has been a member of Collegiate DECA since fall 2009 and has served as

secretary for the Moultrie Technical College chapter. Her goal for Collegiate DECA is to reach

out to as many students as possible and tell them of the great opportunities that await them as a

member. She hopes to increase state membership as well as increase community service activi-

ties on a state and local level. She also wants to help Georgia bring home more awards from

the Collegiate DECA International Career Conference in April 2011 in sunny Orlando, Florida.

Henrick Drummond, Reporter

Henrick Drummond is 23 years old and currently attends DeKalb Technical College in the Market-

ing Management program. He began classes in spring 2009 and has maintained a 4.0/4.0 GPA.

Henrick is a very friendly person, who enjoys working in a group setting. He currently works as an

intern and assistant to the Director of Marketing at DeKalb Tech. Henrick is very involved with

student activities at DeKalb Tech, and is on the DTC Alumni Association Advisory Board. He

placed first in the “Business to Business Marketing” category at the DEX Statewide Competition in

2010 and was a finalist at the International Conference. He intends to pursue a B.B.A. in Marketing

at Georgia State University. Henrick sees a future for himself marketing computers and computer-

related products. In his spare time he enjoys reading.

tivities. Food, fun, and fellowship!

Awards Banquet fall 2010

Students from all organizations at Atlanta Techni-

cal College received recognition at a banquet

hosted by SGA. Collegiate DECA received the

most awards.

Collegiate DECA Week Oc-

tober 11-16 Students were challenged to

compete in a Quiz Bowl. The

35 participants answered ques-

tions pertaining to marketing

and other aspects of business.

“Wrap Our Ride” Design

Competition

Collegiate DECA members

created advertising material for

a design competition promoting

“Green Technology.” The win-

ning design will be used as a

“wrap” for a trailer that was

donated to DeKalb Tech’s

Green Technologies Academy.

Clarkston High School Parade

Members showed support for a local

high school, Clarkston High School,

by participating in their homecoming

parade. Held October 9, 2010, the pa-

rade was a triumphant success and

really brought the community to-

gether. DECA members marched, ban-

ner in hand, along with other organiza-

tions from DeKalb Tech.

Blanket Drive

Gwinnett Technical College DECA Stu-

dents after collecting over 500 coats for

people in need.

Collegiate DECA Fundraising Raf-

fle

The Moultrie Technical College chap-

ter of Collegiate DECA held a 50-50

raffle in March and a prepaid gift card

raffle in September. Community

members and fellow students always

await the announcement of the lucky

winners! Both raffles were successful

in raising funds for the local chapter.

Serenity House Drive

The Moultrie Technical College chap-

ter of Collegiate DECA held its annual

drive for the local battered women's

shelter. Through the support of Moul-

trie Tech faculty, staff, and students

we were able to donate over 800 items

including paper products, personal

care products, school supplies, and

cleaning products.

International Career Development

Conference

Eight students from Moultrie Techni-

cal College had a blast at the Interna-

tional Career Development Confer-

ence in Louisville, Kentucky. Connie

Cannon received a gold medal in the

semi-final round.
