Kapiti College Term One – 24 February 2018

Sports Events:

Athletics Day The weather threatened to bring an early end to the 2018 Athletic Sports. However, the determination of the organisers and cooperation from students ensured that we had another magnificent day. Record entries in almost all events ensured that everyone was well occupied and there were some outstanding and close results in most events. In slightly controversial circumstances the staff ‘dream team’ steam rolled the year 13 students in the 16 x 100m relay. Unfortunately, the year 13s forgot to stay in their lane and apparently, but not confirmed, the staff finished with a different colour relay baton to the one they started with. On Friday Louis Northcott sent the discus past the 1993 record of Kieren Martin with a throw of 40.27m. In the High Jump, which was postponed until Tuesday, Holly Cane Jumped to a new record of 1.50m in the year 9 girls. Well done Louis and Hollie. The house inter competition was the closest for many years and the outcome came down to the form level relays. Nikau (803pts), with massive support from their students, confirmed their superiority closely followed by Mana (777) with Tararua (773) and Moana (763), 3rd and 4th respectively. From the results accumulated the college champions for 2018 are: Seniors - Ashleigh Hill and Louis Northcott Year 11 – Erin Mckevitt / Sammi Clarke (joint) and Ethan Calder-Cass Year 10 - Ana Sidwell and Max Hosking Year 9 – Tessa White and Francis Mettrick.

A large group have been selected to defend the Te Rauparaha Shield next Thursday against Paraparaumu and Otaki. Go Go Go KC.

School Uniform:

School hats are now available at the office and uniform shop at $15 each. Now that they are back in stock, no other caps, hats will be acceptable to wear.

Class/Individual photos:

All students have been given a “photo order envelope" with instructions that if you want to order a photo your family can order and pay online to the photographer, L C Scott. And then you do not need to return this envelope. If you want to pay by cash or cheque then please return the envelope to the school office by Thursday the 22nd February, with details and payment.

We would like to acknowledge the assistance and support we get from St Vincent De Paul. They provide assistance through the school for families of Year 9 students who might need some help purchasing some of their uniform or stationery items.

Performing Arts/Cultural Events: Choir Fundraiser:

The choir needs a little help to reach their final fundraising target. They are taking orders for these eco wraps. Made from NZ beeswax and 100% cotton. They are fantastic for wrapping lunches and leftovers. They are great for a gift too. Washable in cold water and they smell great! $25 for a pack of 3 different sizes. Please email [email protected] With how many packs you would like. Payment details will be sent to you individually. Thank you for your support

KPAC Fundraiser push:

The Kapiti Performing Arts Centre has been chosen for the Warehouse's 'Bags for Good' fund raising project. When you shop at the Paraparaumu Warehouse store grab a token at the checkout and place in the voting unit to say you are supporting the Kapiti Performing Arts Centre. At the end of July, funds raised are given to each of the store community partners according to their percentage of total votes.

Pretty cool. Thanks to the Warehouse for your support. Please support the College in their endeavours to complete this project successfully. Every little bit helps.
