SOLUTION:
The system consists of 30 “Attendant” endpoints in medical centers and regional hospitals (patient site),
13 “Prov ider” endpoints central hospitals (doctor site) and a central command and control center.
Communication is based upon a high definition v ideoconference solution over a highly secure data
network with a combination of real -time transfer of medical results & data from an examination camera, a dermascope, an Ottoscope, a Vital signs monitor, a digital stethoscope and an ECG .
CHALLENGE:
RESULTS:
• Grid based design
• Connect primary health centers with supporting hospitalsthrough a telemedicine infrastructure
• The serv ices that will be delivered:
a) Tele-diagnosis and Tele-consultation
b) Medical Training
c) Mental Health
d) Prevention and Awareness
e) Administrative support
• Due to the region’s geography there is limited access to
healthcare services and healthcare specialists
• Weather conditions, especially during winter time prevent the immediate transfer of patients not only for emergency cases, but also for regular consultations to specialized
doctors
• Costly transfer of patients to regional or central (Athens)
hospitals.
• Very limited training opportunities for doctors and paramedical staff of remote healthcare units in the islands
