USE CASE „WIND POWER STATIONS“Wind Power Stations are maintenance-intensive systems that are exposed to high work load and vibrations. Operators of these stations have to find the right balance between cost-intensive maintenance services and the risk of high damage in case of asset failures. Thus, identifying the optimal point of time for maintenance plays a big role in the industry. Cognizant has developed a prototype for monitoring and optimizing the maintenance strategy. Using SAP Predictive Analytics© the business benefit of predictive analysis procedures is made visible in a real-life show case. Based on sensor data the condition of the asset is determined and the point of time for the next asset failure is forecasted. A comparison with the actual maintenance strategy enables decision-makers to avoid cost-intensive component failures and to realize a mid- and long-term reduction of service costs - even without expert knowledge.
