New Artists to hold youth theater camp

BANDON – New Artists Productions will be conducting a theatercamp this summer to bridge the gap for actors between their springand fall shows. The camp will be held Aug. 9-12, and will introduceyoung people to theater by covering the basic elements of theater.The first three days of the August camp (Aug. 9-11) will involve

understanding theater and its elements, script readings, short plays,games and scenery and props.The final day of the camp, Aug. 12, will involve vocal practices and

auditions for our attendees.“We are looking for young vocalists for our spring 2017 play, ‘Fiddleron the Roof, Jr.’ due to take the Sprague Theater stage March 31,April 1-2 and April 7-9, 2017," said Dan Almich, who, with his wifeAnita, founded New Artists Productions. “This vocal day is especial-ly open to others (those who did not attend the first days of the camp)wishing to audition.”All camp days will be held at the Sprague Community Theater from1-3 p.m.New Artists Productions is a nonprofit, tax exempt youth theater pro-gram open to youth grades kindergarten through 12th. BANDON – Frolic withShakespeare’s best-lovedromantic duos in “DanglingConversation,” a contemporarycabaret of Shakespeare and songpresented by the BandonPlayhouse. Shows are one week-end only, Aug. 5, 6 and 7 at theSprague Community Theater,1202 11th St. SW in Bandon.

Four hundred years after theBard’s death, his classic girl-meets-boy story lines are stillfavorites for actors and audi-ences. Shakespeare’s coupleswoo with sweet words, thenjoust in jealous spats.

“Dangling Conversation,” (areference to a Simon &Garfunkel song), features selec-tions from eight ofShakespeare’s best-lovedcomedic and tragic romances,such as “Midsummer Night’sDream,” “Taming of the Shrew,”“Hamlet,” and “Romeo andJuliet.” Scenes are embroidered

with classical and folk music.The players are six of

Bullards Beach summerprograms underway

BANDON – This week’s Meet & Greetthe Artist at Second Street Gallery featuresJane Hardgrove from noon-4 p.m.Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24.

Hardgrove will demonstrate watercolorand pastel painting compositions from startto finish, including the process and tech-nique as she paints. Hardgrove is an accom-plished artist whose work has been shownin galleries in the Rogue Valley and on thecoast. She has a fresh and flowing style of

painting, ranging from the pure abstract tovery realistic work. She loves to leave a bitof enigma in the finished work, giving theviewer a chance to interact, supply somedetails and complete the interpretation.Hardgrove will have other examples of
