day 1: Lukla to PhakdingThe expedition starts with a 230m descent from Lukla to the peaceful riverside hamlet of Phakding.

At Phakding you have the option to visit a stunning hidden monastery, an hour’s walk from the hamlet. This will be your first opportunity to gain insight into the local way of life in remote areas of the Khamdu region.

Day 4: Namche Bazaar - Tengboche After a day trekking you will arrive at Tengboche. You will have the chance to visit the historic monastery, see all of the beautiful architecture, and catch a glimpse at the disciplined lives of the monks who inhabit the monastery.

As if the Tengboche Monastery is not stunning enough on its own, the awe inspiring Ama Dablam (6,856m), overlooking the monastery, and considered by many to be the world’s most beautiful mountain, adds a breathtaking finishing touch to the scene.

Day 2: Phakding - Namche Bazaar From Phakding you will trek to the hidden town of Namche Bazaar. Namche is the trading hub of the Khumbu region and you will have the chance to pick up some authentic Nepal products here.

Day 9: Summit of Kala Patthar

On day 9 there is the option to summit Kala Patthar (5,545m), where some of the best panoramic views of Everest and the surrounding mountain peaks can be taken in.

The summit attempt is strenuous and involves an hour and a half trek with a final scramble over some boulders to make it to the summit.

After returning to Gorak Shep, you will begin the three day trek back to Lukla The Summit of Mount Everest (8,848m)

Our Expedition Guides & PortersOur English speaking guides are employed from the local region and have expert knowledge of the Khumbu region. This ensures that you gain the most you possibly can out of your expedition. The number of guides whom lead your expedition depends upon your group size, but as a rule of thumb we aim to have one guide for every four clients.

During your expedition local porters are on hand who are responsible for transporting your main bag, expedition supplies and preparing meals. For every two clients we employ at least one porter which ensures a well equipped and supplied expedition.

Am I able to participate? No previous trekking experience is required to come on the Everest Base Camp expedition. As long as you are 18 years or older our only other requirement of participation if that you are fit and healthy. The base camp expedition is strenuous to the point that you have to be capable of walking an average of 5 hours a day for the full expedition whist carrying a small day bag. A day bag includes your essential items such as water, snacks and camera. If you have any past medical conditions we require a doctors medical form before your departure date although we advise that all participants consult a doctor prior to departure.

Insurance Days and Additional

TravelDue to the nature of the expedition, the itinerary planned cannot always be followed exactly due to the effect of adverse weather conditions. If the weather conditions are bad then this can lead to flights being grounded between Kathmandu and Lukla. Therefore to account for this, we have allocated 6 insurance days which can be used in such an event, to ensure your expedition can still be completed successfully.

These insurance days can also be used for additional travel so you can explore Kathmandu and experience more of Nepal. We offer a number of additional trips that you can book with us, including a heart stopping 160m high bungee jump. Or if you want to slow down and take things easy, spend a night in a hidden luxurious jungle spa and hotel. Whatever your preference, this culturally rich country has something for you.

The trip will start with your private transportation from Kathmandu to your hotel where you will be staying on the safari. Once you arrive you will have chance to relax and go on a riverside walk at sunset where it is possible to see rhinos bathing at dusk.

After a refreshing night’s sleep you will start the day with a canoe ride down the river where you are likely to be able to spot crocodiles. You will then go on a jungle trek searching for some of the exciting species followed by an Elephant shower.

After lunch you trek through the jungle on the back of an elephant which is when the best wildlife is most likely to be found. You will finish the day with dinner and then a cultural show in the local village. On day three there will be an early morning bird watching opportunity and then back to Kathmandu.
