Threads
For that Special Application The Coats branded range of speciality threads from Mez Crafts provides consumers with dedicated sewing threads for specific purposes. These sewing threads have individual characteristics which meet the specific criteria for the sewing applications for which they were designed.
Coats Basting
This thread is a soft, weak lightweight threadmade especially for easy removal. It is ideal fortemporary stitching (tacking) to mark and fitclothes before the final stitching. This threadshould easily break as a stronger thread coulddamage fabric and be difficult to remove. Selecta shade that allows you to easily find and removethe stitch from the fabric. Available in 3 shades.100% cotton.
Tip: When sewing seams in awkward fabrics, such as fur, velvet or suede,or where patterns or stripes have to match, tack the seam before stitchingand use a walking foot or an even feed foot.
Coats Elastic
Coats Elastic sewing thread can be used in thebobbin of a sewing machine to create asmocking effect as well as for hand sewing forneck, sleeve and waistbands on pullovers to addelasticity and stretch. Available in 20 shades,60% elastic, 40% polyester.
Tip: To use Coats Elastic in your sewing machine:
1. Wind the elastic thread on the bobbin, place into the shuttle case and thread as normal.
2. Increase the tension of the shuttle screw by half a turn. 3. Increase the tension of the thread slightly. 4. Lengthen the sewing stitches to four stitches per centimetre. 5. Gently push the fabric when sewing.
Coats Invisible
Coats Invisible thread has a variety of applicationsincluding overlocking, jewellery and invisiblesewing. It is not recommended for sewingdirectly in contact with the skin and requiresspecial care when ironing. Available in clear andsmoke, 100% polyamide.

Tip: When stitching close to the edge of the fabric and especially on sheer ordelicate fabrics, place a strip of Vilene Stitch ‘n’ Tear underneath to stop thematerial puckering. Then simply tear away the Stitch ‘n’ Tear afterwards.
