The Commonwealth Cyber Initiative is an engine for research, innovation and commercialization of cybersecurity technologies, and addresses the Commonwealth’s need for growth of the cyber workforce.
CCI is a deeply connected network across Virginia.The Hub provides coordination, business development, programmatic support, and unique technical capabilities and services for the Network.

GOAL 1 – BUILD WORLD LEADING CPSS CAPABILITIESStrategy 1.A. Expand the capacity of Coastal Virginia research institutions to conduct cyber physical systems security research.Strategy 1.B. Promote and support diverse and inclusive CPSS research efforts, particularly in areas related to the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in maritime, defense, and transportation industries. Strategy 1.C. Uplift cybersecurity research infrastructure. Strategy 1.D. Expand connections between government, industry, and higher education to focus CPSS/AI research on topics that will help generate start-ups and products in the maritime, defense, and transportation industries.

• Develop a multi-year strategic plan outlining the policies, mission, goals and objectives, and regional strengths of COVA CCI; update annually

• RFP – CCI Research funding• 6-10 awards in two tracks• Track 1: Research Development projects focused on development of new
technology and/or demonstration of commercializable prototypes. $150,000 per project
• Track 2: Industrial Collaboration projects aim to establish collaboration with industrial partners in developing joint SBIR/STTR proposals. $50,000 per project
• Graduate Student Assistance Program• GA hired from NSU, ODU, W&M to support academic institutions with instruction,
research and mentorship

apprenticeship experience, review apprenticeship training and competencies and align with higher education curriculum.
• Create COVA CCI marketing materials. Develop a strategic outreach focused on both academic coursework and certificate credentialing, open houses, online marketing, and academic and career advising/counseling
