JOURNALISM EDUCATION ORGANIZATIONSMore than 1,000 educators in institutions

of higher learning are members of the As-sociation for Education in Journalism(AEJ). The AEJ also is comprised ofabout 200 graduate students and severalaffiliated professional organizations, includ-ing the American Association of Schoolsand Departments of Journalism (AASDJ)and the American Society of JournalismSchool Administrators (ASJSA).

The AEJ, AASDJ and ASJSA are mem-bers of the American Council on Educa-tion in Journalism (ACEJ), an agency ac-crediting programs for professional edu-cation in journalism. When invited theACEJ sends a team to evaluate an intitu-tion's journalism sequences. The AASDJ,which represents schools and departmentswith accredited sequences, cooperates withmedia practitioners in raising educationalstandards. An objective of ASJSA is help-ing schools and departments work towardaccreditation. The ASJSA founded theJournalism Educator in 1945.

Today, the Journalism Educator, Jour-tudism Quarterly, Journalism Monographs, and Journalism Abstracts are published byAEJ.
