Date and new locationThe conference will be held Friday, June 27, 2014, in Phillips Hall, first floor, Siebens Building, Mayo Clinic, 100 Second Street SW, Rochester, Minnesota.

Description and goalsThe 2014 LPN Clinical Practice Review is designed around the theme, The Truth of the Matter. The conference will address topics that have been most requested by audiences at previous LPN conferences. Some of the topics have become newsworthy because of increased public awareness, and in some cases, controversy around them. Topics to be highlighted are Munchausen Syndrome, autism, celiac disease, bariatric and congestive heart failure treatments, sports related concussions, thyroid disorders, and a special brand of humor enjoyed by nurses in particular.

The goals of the conference are to:•Explorekeysymptomslinkedtosportsrelatedheadinjuries.•Discusstherationaleforadvancedheartfailuretherapies.•Addresscontemporarytopicswithevidence-basedinformation.•Enjoyhumorthatisparticulartonursing.

Guest facultyTerry M. Foster, MSN, RN, began his nursing career as an LPN in Covington, Kentucky.FostersubsequentlyearnedhisRNandamaster’sdegreeinCriticalCare and Trauma Nursing from the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing andHealth.Hehasheldpositionsofvolunteer,wardclerk,staffnurse,chargenurse, critical care instructor, clinical director and night supervisor. Foster has authoredmorethan35professionalpublicationsinvarioustextbooks,nursing

and healthcare journals. He has given more than 2000 formal presentations, covering all 50 statesintheUSA.Nationally,Fosteriswellknownandsoughtafterasaspeakeronnursinghumor.Heisapart-timestand-upcomicandhasperformedattheLasVegasCaesar’sPalaceandAtlanticCity’sTrumpTower.FosterworksasthecriticalcareclinicalnursespecialistintheemergencydepartmentatSt.ElizabethMedicalCenterinEdgewood,Kentucky.
