RAF Swing Band Back in Wisbech to Celebrate RAF100

As requested by last year’s audience the Royal Air Force College Swing Wing Band will return to Wisbech and perform another concert. The concert will take place on Saturday 14th April in the theatre of Thomas Clarkson Academy, Corporation Road.

The RAF are celebrating the 100th anniversary of its formation on 1st April 2018, so we are very lucky to have such prestigious musicians during a very busy time for them.

There will be many familiar faces in the Band including leader Sgt Tom Rose, vocalist, SAC Philippa Hobbs and compere SAC Michael Howley. As ever the Band remains true to its traditions and maintains their own high standards of music that we have come to enjoy here in Wisbech.

RAF Swing Wing is a 20-piece big band that plays in the style of the big bands of the 40s, 50s and 60s. Their programme will included very popular numbers covering all swing band years, as well as including later tunes bringing them right up to date. The concert will give the audience an opportunity to enjoy some of the best live music in the area.

The concert will begin at 7.30pm with doors opening at 6.30pm. Tickets are £10 each and, as always, all proceeds from the concert will be donated to local RAF charities.

For further information, or to reserve tickets contact Jan or Ray Hutchinson on 01945 584595. Tickets are also on sale at Sarah’s Flowers, 16 Market Street Wisbech.
