County Kerry Motor clubs keen to attract overseas competitorsDear Club Secretary
I am writing to you on behalf of two motor clubs in County Kerry, Ireland. I would be grateful if you could share this information with your membership.
Many of you will know me as a founding member of London Irish Motor Club and a former journalist withMotorsport News.
The two motor clubs in Kerry, between them, run four rallies every year and we would love to see more of ourUK friends competing on Irish rallies.
With this in mind, the two motor clubs in County Kerry have launched a unique plan in an effort to attract moreoverseas competitors to their rallies.The Tralee-based Kerry Motor Club and Killarney and District Motor Club each run four rallies ever year.
The Rose Hotel Circuit of Kerry Rally, scheduled for April 5 organised by KMC runs three weeks before theKDMC-run cartel.ie Rally of the Lakes.
Likewise, the Kerry Winter Rally, which makes a return this year after two seasons off the calendar will runthree weeks before the Killarney Historic Rally.
For those not familiar with the event, The Circuit of Kerry is a one-day, nine-stage event, offering around 60miles of stages and is a round of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship. The Rally of the Lakes is atwo-day international event and features iconic stages like Moll’s Gap.
The Kerry Winter Rally is a club event open to all classes except for WRC and R5 cars the Killarney HistoricRally is a specialist event but with classes for modified cars too.
All four rallies traditionally attract a strong international entry and their proximity on the calendar means thatboth clubs will now offer storage and workshop facilities between each event.
Safe and secure workshops have been identified in both Tralee and Killarney.
Each of the storage facilities is big enough to house three or four van and trailer rigs and are owned by clubmembers and experienced rally competitors.
The idea is that if a driver enters the Circuit of Kerry in April and has ambitions to enter the Rally of the Lakesa few weeks later, they will substantially reduce their costs by only having to pay for one return ferry for thetwo events. The same applies to the two events later in the year.It is the first time that the two motor clubs in the county have come together to create such a package that willbe of benefit to all rallies and all overseas competitors.
UK visitors can make their way back home after the first rally in each batch via Kerry Airport which is servedby Ryanair (cheap flights) to Stansted, Luton and Manchester.Kerry Airport’s links to German and Belgian competitors near Frankfurt Hahn will make the package evenmore attractive to international crews.Additional discount on ferry crossings is available via the Motorsport Ireland membership card which is free toall – even overseas supporters of Motorsport Ireland event and can be obtained via motorsportireland.ie

We use your information when you first apply to become a member of Clwyd Vale Motor Club, then to administer andrenew your club membership, and provide you with details of member benefits.
