Community Living Victoria Autism Services2018-2019 Community Based Social Groups
for Ages 6-18
*Physical Activity
*Friendships
*Communication and Social Skills
*Being adventurous and trying new things!
After school on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays September 10/18 - June 14/19
In all groups, participants will have the support of a team of experienced Behavior Interventionists, in amaximum ratio of three participants to one Behavior Interventionist at all times. Activities will provideopportunities for the individuals to work on their social skills, both in-house and in the community. Everyattempt will be made to ensure that everyone benefits from a fun and educational experience with CLV.Autism Services can also assist with all administration related to Ministry of Children and FamilyDevelopment's Autism Funding. The fee for each group varies, but is equivalent to $30 per hour. Optionalpickup and drop-off for group is available at $1 per km.

Service Satisfaction Survey
In follow up to, and alignment with the 2014 and 2018 Service Satisfaction baselinesurvey and to continue to improve our service quality, we will be asking clients to
complete a brief satisfaction survey (12 questions).
September 24 to November 2, 2018
The survey offers clients an opportunity to provide feedback regarding servicedelivery.
The survey is open to all individuals who receive income or disability assistance.Participation is optional, anonymous and is not linked to eligibility.
Clients can participate by going online to the BCEA Satisfaction Survey or callingtoll-free: 1-877-223-8078 Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4:30pm, except statutory
holidays).
If needed, a paper copy is available upon request through the 1-877 toll-free line or ata ministry office.
Wills and Trusts
Information sessions with Network Manager, Heather Bergink and Lawyer DustinMarnell from Horne Coupar occur frequently at Lifetime Networks. Information includesconversations on future planning, wills and trusts.

Online Mental Health and Autism Project:
Looking Beyond Autism
The Online Mental Health and Autism Project (OMHAP) is a partnership between ACT-Autism Community Training and UBC CPD which aims to create an enhancedawareness of the growing trend of children with ASD having co-morbid mental healthchallenges. Further, this education aims to support health professionals to betterrecognize these mental health challenges and provide the appropriate care.
A panel of autism specialists from ACT's Online Mental Health and Autism Projectprovide an orientation for community professionals on the high prevalence of autismacross the age span, and how autistic characteristics frequently masks mental healthconcerns.

Plan Institute is currently developing a new Wills, Trusts & Estate Planningwebinar with the generous support of Law Foundation of BC.
During the pilot phase of this project, we will be offering 4 sessions in fall 2018
These pilot webinars will be offered free of charge as a limited time offer for BCresidents living in rural communities outside of the Lower Mainland. In return, allparticipants are requested to provide feedback on their webinar experience.Following launch of this program, all future webinars will have a small fee forparticipation.

CanAssist presents a unique program for youth with disabilities who wish to findpart-time work while they are still in high school. The program helps participantsfind meaningful, paid work and prepares them for the transition to adulthood.

BCEdAccess is tracking the exclusion of students withspecial needs in BC schools This incident report form is for parents and guardians and is meant to be filled out eachtime a child has been excluded from school.
BCEdAccess, a parent education advocacy group, is tracking incidents of exclusion atBC schools. The group has created an incident report form for parents and guardians ofstudents with special needs. The form is for the 2018/2019 school year.Inclusion BC is working with BCEdAccess to ensure students with special needs acrossBC are guaranteed their right to an education.

2018 General Local Elections in BCOctober 20 is Municipal Election Day in BC, when voters will choose school trustees,Mayors and Councillors for their local communities. These elected leaders makeimportant decisions that affect inclusion in our schools and local communities.
Elections are also a good time to talk to others about disability rights and inclusion, tohelp people understand why these things are important and to grow support for ourmovement.

with an intellectual disability.
CACL looks forward to the implementation of the Strategy and to working with theGovernment of Canada over the coming months and years.
