At LSI, we welcome mature students of all ages throughout the year. The Club 40+ Programme combines our regular mixed-age English language group tuition (or French language group tuition in Paris) with a unique activity programme specifically designed around the interests of our more mature students.

We also welcome bookings from organised groups with special interests. Groups can be taught in separate classes with a specially designed social programme. Please contact us for a quote.

1 London Eye & River CruiseStarting with a trip along the Thames, you'll take in the lovely river views and famous landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London, all from the comfort of a London River Cruiser. Follow this with some spectacular views from the world-famous London Eye, an observation wheel that rises 135 metres over the city.

2 British MuseumOften considered as one of the world's finest museums, the British Museum is located in the charming neighbourhood of Bloomsbury, a short walk from the school. With a permanent collection of over eight million pieces, there is something for everyone. Visit the ancient Egyptian galleries or those devoted to Ancient Greece or Rome – it really is a must of any visitor to London.

3 Traditional English Tea Room One of the most famous aspects of London life is afternoon tea. Many visitors enjoy the ceremony of finger sandwiches and cakes. We will help you enjoy this experience and make the very most of this unique opportunity.

4 Borough Market & Shakespeare’s Globe Borough Market is the number one destination for those who love food in London. With food stalls from all over the world, it’s easy to find delicious treats to enjoy there or take home. Follow this with a visit to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. A modern replica of the original 17th century theatre, it provides a 'taste' of old London.

5 Covent Garden & the Royal Opera House The Covent Garden neighbourhood is one of London’s most beautiful. With small boutiques and restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere, it is a charming place to visit. Combine this with a special backstage tour of one of the world’s most famous theatres and see how they prepare for a show.

6 Greenwich & the MeridianVisit the home of time. The Greenwich Meridian is the point where the universal standard time (UTC) is set and is located in one of the most architecturally interesting parts of London. Explore the nearby historic Royal Naval College, during your visit.

1 Westminster Walking Tour Tour some of London’s most iconic landmarks along the River Thames. Visit Westminster Abbey, where many of our monarchs were crowned, and view “Poets’ Corner” where Britain’s greatest writers are honoured.

2 Beer Tasting in a Traditional English Pub Learn the difference between bitter, ale and lager while you chat with your teacher and experience the very English atmosphere of a traditional pub. You may choose to stay for dinner! In the last few years, London has produced some excellent “gastro-pubs” which offer some very good menus including traditional favourites such as fish & chips or steak & kidney pie.

3 Tower Bridge & Borough Market The perfect tour for food lovers! Visit London’s great food market and sample the delicious local and European produce. Follow this with a walk along the River Thames to see the beautiful views of Tower Bridge. Nearby attractions include the Tate Modern and Southwark Cathedral.

4 St James’ Park, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square & the National Gallery Walk through one of London’s most picturesque parks on the way to the Queen’s official London residence. Then see the beautiful collection of art at the famous National Gallery in Trafalgar Square.

5 Victoria & Albert Museum and Harrods, Knightsbridge Visit the world’s largest museum of international art and design including the fascinating theatre and performance gallery. Harrods, one of the most famous and impressive department stores in the world, is a short walk away.

1 Fitzwilliam Museum The Fitzwilliam Museum houses over 500,000 incredible works of art and has historical collections going back as far as 2500 BC including its world renowned Egyptian collection. It frequently houses exhibits from all over the world, ensuing there will always be something fresh, interesting and exciting for you to visit with the group and your teacher.

2 Cambridge Botanical Gardens Open for over 150 years, the Botanical Gardens have been designed with over 8,000 different plant species set in 40 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens. The winter garden contrasts with the superb tropical glasshouses ensuring there is always something to amaze regardless of when you visit.

3 Punting on the River Cam The River Cam runs through the very heart of the city and is the best place to enjoy the stunning views of the university buildings and gardens. A traditional punt will allow you to float effortlessly through the scenery, unless of course you fancy giving the guide a break, and having a go at punting yourself!

4 Cream Tea at Granchester Meadows A stroll from Cambridge to Granchester follows the river through the meadows, an unspoilt grassland with wild flowers and wildlife. After arriving at Granchester, we enjoy a traditional cream tea with scones, jam and clotted cream at the Orchard before returning to Cambridge.

5 Micro Brewery tour & Pub Crawl The Brewhouse in Cambridge offers a tour of its brewing facilities, where they have been making their own speciality beers in house for many years. Following a taster, we then head off into the evening to sample the rich variety of Cambridge pubs, each of which has its own story to tell; from the Empress with its loveable bar pig, to the Eagle where messages burnt into the ceiling by soldiers during the second world war are still visible.

6 Museum of History of Science This small, friendly museum is packed with fascinating instruments, bizarre models and wonderful ideas ranging from the middle ages to the present day. The museum prides itself on being ‘hands on’ ensuring that you can touch and examine many of the exhibits and conduct mini experiments yourself.

1 The Royal Pavilion The Royal Pavilion is an extraordinary and extravagant pleasure palace. Built for the Prince Regent, later King George IV, in stages between 1787 and 1823, the Royal Pavilion is remarkable for its exotic oriental appearance both inside and out. This magnificent royal pleasure palace was revered by fashionable Regency society and is still a distinctive landmark for vibrant Brighton & Hove today. The Royal Pavilion is also home to some of the finest collections and examples of the chinoiserie style in Britain. You can relax and have a drink and something to eat in the beautiful tea room.

2 Brighton Wheel, Pier & Seafront Visit the Brighton Wheel for stunning, panoramic views of the city's famous landmarks and coastline and fascinating commentary of Brighton and Hove's heritage. After that, take a walk along the seafront to Brighton Pier and enjoy the amusements. Walk to the west and you’ll find the artists’ quarter where you can see many different styles of artwork and meet some of the artists. There are lots of cafes to stop off at.

3 Brighton Museum & Art Gallery Set in the heart of the city’s cultural quarter, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery is located in the Royal Pavilion gardens. Its rich collections and exciting exhibits are dynamically displayed in stimulating surroundings.

4 Eco BrightonVisit an Earthship. This sustainable building is set in the beautiful Stanmer Park. This pioneering demonstration project has evolved over the last ten years, providing jobs for local workers and enabling people to come and experience a cutting edge eco-build and be inspired to respond to climate change in their own ways back at home and work.

1 University of California Berkeley TourTake a stroll through downtown Berkeley and the `Gourmet Ghetto'. Stop for lunch at one of the many critically acclaimed local restaurants before continuing on to the University of California Berkeley Campus. Take a guided tour of the campus, California's first! You'll end the afternoon with a view of Berkeley and San Francisco from the top of the iconic Sather tower.

2 Civic Center & Golden Gate ParkGet to know San Francisco a bit better with this tour of the historic City Hall. Afterwards, you'll catch one of San Francisco's famous street cars to head to Golden Gate Park. Some highlights of the park include the world renowned Japanese Tea Garden, as well as the De Young Museum of Art.

3 Oakland Museum of California & Lake MerrittFor this activity you'll take the BART train to downtown Oakland to visit the brand new Oakland Museum of California. 1 Vancouver LookoutWe will take you for a short walk around Downtown Vancouver and head towards the Lookout, which is the perfect first stop for visitors and locals alike. It offers a fascinating bird’s eye view of our city.

2 UBC Anthropology MuseumThe UBC Museum of Anthropology is one of Canada’s foremost museums, renowned for its Northwest Coast Collections and collaborative approach to working with the First Nations and other cultural communities.

3 Vancouver Art GalleryThe Vancouver Art Gallery, located in a stunning, turn-of-the-century heritage building in the heart of downtown Vancouver, is the fifth largest art gallery in Canada. Its permanent collection of over 9,100 items includes more than 200 major works by Emily Carr and the Group of Seven and illustrations by Marc Chagall.

4 Granville Island & BreweryDeveloped in 1979 from what used to be an industrial area under the Granville Street Bridge, the island features live entertainment and an amazing food market. Sample freshly made fudge and warm donuts or view the colourful houseboats. We will also visit the Granville Island Brewery, where you can taste some locally brewed beer.

5 Grouse MountainTake North America’s largest aerial tramway and see breathtaking views of the city of Vancouver, the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf Islands and snowy peaks as you journey up the mountainside. The tram will take you on a one-mile aerial journey to the Alpine Station, 3,700 feet above sea level.

6 Vancouver Aquarium & Stanley ParkThe underwater wonderland is home to a variety of fish and aquatic animals in natural habitats. Underwater windows provide a rare close-up view of these creatures. The aquarium is located in the famous Stanley Park, which has over 1,000 acres of dense West Coast forest. You can walk through marked trails or around the sea wall to take in the views of the boats passing by.

1 Waterfront WalkEnjoy walking along the popular waterfront - only a 10 minute bus ride from downtown Auckland. Take in the breathtaking views from Bastion Point, enjoy a hokey pokey ice-cream from Mission Bay, and learn all about the islands in the Hauraki Gulf.

2 Waiheke Island Wine TourCatch a ferry to Waiheke Island, then board a bus to view what the island has to offer, with its beautiful beaches, vineyards, cafes and local art. Sample wine from the local vineyards.

3 Eden Gardens & Mt Eden VillageTake a leisurely stroll through the beautiful native bush and gardens on the side of one of Auckland’s extinct landmark volcanoes. Then walk into Mt Eden Village and sample what one of the cafes has to offer, or enjoy fish and chips from Auckland’s number one fish and chip shop.

4 Art Gallery TourStart at Auckland’s newly renovated Art Gallery to see the extensive displays of past and present art, then take a walking tour to the local privately owned art galleries in the vicinity.

6 Museum TourThis War Memorial Museum houses the largest exhibition of Polynesian artefacts in the world, a Maori pa, canoe and eating house. There are also different exhibitions on display such as a Victorian street, New Zealand fauna and historical records of Auckland. 1 Lone Pine SanctuaryA visit to Australia would not be complete without cuddling a koala or feeding a kangaroo. Lone Pine Sanctuary is the first and largest sanctuary in the world and home to over 130 koalas. The 11-acre nature park houses a large variety of Australian wildlife, including dingoes, wombats, Tasmanian devils and even a platypus! It’s the perfect place to see animals native to Australia in a natural setting.

2 Gallery of Modern ArtHave a stroll through Brisbane’s famous Southbank and end up at the Gallery of Modern Art to experience contemporary art of Asia, the Pacific and Australia, as well as exhibitions that promote Indigenous Australian Art. The GoMA is Australia’s largest gallery of modern and contemporary art and also houses the Australian Cinematheque, which holds film screenings.
