Guided surgery

Introduction

A 67-year-old patient wishes to regain molar alignment after decompensated tooth loss. The indication supports the placement of two implants in positions 46 and 47. The therapeutic project is the design of two screw-retained restorations with their numerous

clinical advantages, particularly in terms of peri-implant health. The bone volumes available make it possible to carry out this project effectively using guided surgery. A mucosal thickening will be carried out at the same time as implant placement and a quantity of keratinised surrounding gum will be added during the operation.

Conclusion

Studies have shown the benefits of partially guided surgery as opposed to freehand surgery in terms of 3D positioning accuracy. The Anthogyr INITIAL Guided Surgery Kit allows rapid execution of the surgical procedure with few drill passages through the guide, in an area that often demands a great deal of effort from patients in terms of mouth opening. The pointer drill in the kit is very effective and prevents any lateral “sliding” if the angle of access is too tangential to the bone crest. It guides the pilot drill and enables it to find its way smoothly. This case illustrates a common clinical situation for implantology practitioners. It highlights the value of using a system with an integrated solution for guided surgery in the management of a simple case.
