Principal’s Report
Issue 9
18th June 2015
Our School photos have been delivered. If you ordered photos your child
should have brought them home this week. They look fantastic and my
favourite was the staff fun photo. The students look very happy in their
photos as well.
A few of our hardworking parents are organizing a Special Lunch Day for
the students on the last Tuesday of the term. A variety of pizzas, piece of
fruit and juice box can be yours for only $6.00 Forms and money are due
back by 9am Monday, 22nd June. No late orders can be accepted
unfortunately. I encourage you to participate in this fundraiser.
School finishes for Term 2 next Friday 26th June. I would like to thank the staff, students and parents for their hard work this term and wish everyone a safe and restful break. Don’t forget school finished at 2:30pm on the 26th.

Principal’s Report cont.
All student reports are currently being finalized and
will be sent home next Wednesday 24th June. You
will notice a few changes to the report format
compared to previous reports. CSPS is using a new
reporting package and the staff have found it very
easy to use. The reports are set out in an easy to
read format and have a graphic display of your
child’s achievements. The yellow section is
predictive of where your child should be. The white
dot is the teacher’s judgment of where your child
was performing this time last year and the blue dot
is this year’s result. You will also notice our rating
scale is not numerical any longer. We use the terms
well above standard, above standard, at standard,
below standard and well below standard. Please
see myself or your child’s class teacher if you are
unsure how to interpret the report. Some students
will be receiving Individual Learning Plan reports or
English as a Second Language report as these are
more appropriate for reporting on their learning.
I would welcome your feedback on the format of
the report and the information it has provided you.
Staff at Clayton South Primary have been drafting
an updated vision for our school and we would like
your input.
School vision statements are important and most
Australian schools generally have vision (or
mission) statements that outline the key
aspirations for their school and students.
This is what we have come up with
Clayton South Primary School provides a happy,
caring and stimulating environment. We work in a
diverse community and do so with a sense of
commitment. Children are encouraged as individuals
to achieve their best, so they can make Positive
contributions to the community.
What do you think?
Staff have also been working on updating school
policies , most recently the Student Engagement
Policy. These will be on our school website for your
information and input. Please email or call if you
want to communicate with me your thoughts on
these. These documents are important for
governance of our school.
The Good Guys are supporting
Clayton South for a fundraising
activities. Please see information
later in the newsletter. For every
$50 spent we get to spend $2 in
store.
