    Applications are invited for appointment in the capacity of Assistant Inspector in the Income Tax Department.

    2. The appointment is in the scale £ P •200 x 8 —£P,280 x 10—£P.300. It is non-pensionable and holders wi l l be required to contribute to the' Provident Fund at the rate of 5% of their basic emoluments. A compensatory allowance in respect of the high cost of living is also payable subject to adjustment or abolition at any time. '

    3. Candidates should hold a Palestine or London Matriculation Certificate or have passed an examination of equivalent standard. They should possess a good knowledge of English and one other official language. The duties require a knowledge of and an experience in accountancy including the ability to read a balance sheet. Some practicable experience in business methods and general commercial practice is also desirable. The appointments call for accuracy, tact and presentable appearance and personality. Candidates• over the age of 30 years on the 1st June, 1943, wi l l not be considered.

    4. Persons wishing to apply for the above appointments should complete the requisite form of application which may be obtained on request from the Department of Income Tax Offices in any of the main towns. Completed application forms should reach the Income Tax Office of the district in which the applicant resides not later than the 31st July, 1943.

    I. Philatelic Covers.

    Censorship rules as to the despatch abroad of postage stamps for use as collector's specimens wi l l in future be applied to "philatelic covers".

    By "philatelic cover" is meant any postal packet designed as a specimen for stamp collectors, and especially any bearing the legend "First Day Cover" or a large number of postage stamps of different denominations greatly exceeding in value what is required for postage.

    Philatelic covers may only be sent to places abroad by holders of permits from the Chief Censor for the export of postage stamps.

    The names of the holders of permits for this purpose (who are authorised to despatch philatelic specimens on behalf of others in return for a small fee) may be ascertained from any Head Post Office or in writing from the Chief Censor, Jerusalem. 5th July, 1943.

Telephone subscribers who require any alteration in their entries must write to the Chief Telephone Superintendent, General Post Office, Jerusalem, as early as possible, if. they have-not done so already. In the interests of economy no entry in the new directory wilk be allowed to exceed one line. Addresses wil l not be shown.

The orange grove contains fifty metres of 4-inch pipes and is irrigated by means of cement canals.
