This federal program allows law enforcement agencies free access to surplus equipment from the Department of Defense including vehicles, firearms and ballistic gear. Sergeant Jason Perry and Officer Dale Norvell have been selected as screeners for the Grass Valley Police Department to assess the department’s needs and review available property in an effort to obtain free equipment. The 2012 Law Enforcement Support Office National Training Conference provides the training needed to successfully utilize this program. During this conference, attendees will have the opportunity to meet our 1033 Program State Coordinator and establish contacts within the Law Enforcement Support Office which will increase the effectiveness of the program. The closest Training Conference is scheduled for Seattle, Washington, May 1st through May 3’, 2012. The estimated cost based on current prices is approximately $2,000.00 for both officers. This includes air fare, travel to and from the airport, parking at the airport, hotel costs, and meals. FISCAL IMPACT:

Based on current prices, it is estimated the training will cost approximately $2,000.00 in hotel, meals, travel, and air fare for both officers.
