President Roxan Brown opened the meeting by remembering longtime member and past guild president, Jean Leslie, who passed away recently. She had been a leader in our guild for many years. Chris Anderson reminded us of next year’s Quilt Retreat in February of 2019. Sign up and first payment are due at our September meeting. Rose King, our Hospitality chairman reported that we are fully supplied with volunteers through this year. You can sign up now for 2019. Linda O’Donnell will teach a class on making fabric bowls on our October Project Day. The “Fiber on a Whim” shop have the program for our September 10th meeting (2nd Monday because of Labor Day). They will also teach a class on Landscape Painting with fabric. Class fee is $30 with a $15 supply fee. The Georgia Sewing and Quilting Shop will accept entries for the Georgia State Fair held in Perry, GA each year. There is no entry fee. The rest of our time was spent shopping at our “Garage Sale”. Lots of fun!!! Respectfully submitted,Julie Monroe, Secretary

A Traveling Bee is being planned. A lot of you know that Linda O'Donnell and her two sisters have made a quilt that has ben accepted in the Houston Quilt Show this fall (YEAH Linda!). One of her sisters belongs to the Lake and Mountain Quilters Guild in Seneca, SC and they are showing their quilt in their quilt show in September. I would like to get a group together to go up there. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get up there.
Hold the date--it is Sept 21. I've heard good things about their quilt show.
You can see information about the Guild and the show at www.LMQG.org.

Thanks to all of you who have filled the critter beds. The Northeast Georgia Humane Society staff and the doggies and Kitties greatly appreciate your generosity. In the last month I took in over 60 beds perfect timing for the humane society as they had rescued 70 dog over the weekend. I have covers for the beds, all you need to do is put your little scraps into them, sew up the end, give them to me, and I’ll deliver them. Please be careful that no pins or large
pieces of fabric go in, batting is fine. The beasties like the beds soft and squishy so stuff them loosely. Thanks Again.
