This is one of those projects. I thought the darker linen background might be the perfect opportunity to show off some lovely Aurifil thread! CUTTING DIRECTIONS From each of (9) fabrics: • Cut (2) 2 ” squares. Cut in ½ on the diagonal for a total of (36) triangles [a]. • Cut (4) 1 ½” x 2” [b] From background [grey linen]: • Cut (2) 2 ” strips. Cut into (18) 2 ” squares. Cut in ½ on the diagonal for a total of (36) triangles [c]. From the remainder of the second strip, cut (9) 2” squares [d]. • Cut (2) 2” strips. Cut into (4) 2” x 21” L/R and T/B borders. • Cut (1) 1 ½” strip. Cut into (16) 1 ½” posts [e]. • Cut (7) 1” strips. Cut into (18) 1” x 6” [f], (18) 1” x 5” [g] and (36) 1” x 2” [h]. From a variety of cream prints: • Cut a total of (24) 1 ½” x 6” [i]. From the leftovers, cut (4) 2” outer corner squares [j]. From a variety of cream prints:• Cut a total of (24) 1 ½” x 6” [i]. From the leftovers, cut (4) 2” outer corner squares [j].

From binding fabric:Cut (3) 2 ¼” strips

PIECING & ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONSStep 1: Make churn dash blocks as shown in diagram at right. Press half square triangles open.

Press remaining pieces toward churn dash fabric.Step 2: Add borders around each block as shown. Press out toward grey background. Make (9) blocks.Step 3: Arrange blocks in your “rainbow”.Step 4: Set blocks into (3) rows of 3 blocks each by alternating with (4) cream sashings [i].Step 5: Make sashing rows with (3) sashings [i] and (4) posts [e].Step 6: Alternate block rows with sashing rows to assemble quilt top. Press toward sashings each time.Step 7: Add the outer L/R borders. Press out. Add the (4) corners to the remaining T/B borders and add to the T/B. Press out.

FINISHING DIRECTIONSStep 8: Quilt as desired. My quilter Diana quilted small feather wreaths in each churn dash, cross hatched the sashing and the block centers and finished off the mini with a tiny feather border.

Step 9: Bind with (3) 2 ¼” strips.
