Reflection
Simplified explanations by Ss. Patrick, Cyril, and John Maria Vianney: Since the Holy Trinity is a mystery, all these examples are only the shadows of f the Truth. The shamrock, a kind of clover, is a leguminous herb that grows in marshy places.
St. Patrick, the missionary patron saint of Ireland,
used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. The story goes that one day his friends asked Patrick to explain the Mystery of the Trinity. He looked at the ground and saw shamrocks growing amid the grass at his feet. He picked up one of its trifoliate leaves and asked if it were one leaf or three. Patrick’s friends couldn’t answer – the shamrock leaf looked like one, but it clearly had three parts. Patrick explained to them: “The mystery of the Holy Trinity – one God in Three Persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – is like this, but more complex and unintelligible.” St. Cyril, the teacher of the Slavs, tried to explain the Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity using sun as an example. He said, “God the Father is that blazing sun. God the Son is its light and God the Holy Spirit is its heat — but there is only one sun. So, there are three Persons in the Holy Trinity, but God is One and indivisible.” St. John Maria Vianney used to explain Holy Trinity using lighted candles and roses on the altar and water in the cruets. “The flame has color, warmth and shape. But these are expressions of one flame. Similarly, the rose has color, fragrance, and shape. But these are expressions of one reality, namely, rose. Water, steam, and ice are three distinct expressions of one reality. In the same way one God revealed Himself to us as Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.”

Parish Prayers: Serious requests for prayers for loved ones who are ill, undergoing tests or surgery, suffering from stress, mental health, addiction issues, or prayers of thanksgiving can be placed in the Prayer Box or contact, Myrna Murray at 902-892-5245 or Fr. At this time, we can continue to pray for each other, our health care workers, essential workers, our governments, for our fellow parishioners, and for all churches.
We pray for the loss of members of our community who must grieve alone.
Weekday Masses & Intentions: We will slowly bring the Masses from March 16th forward. Call the office or send an email to arrange for your Mass to be rescheduled starting Mon., June 1st. The online information from the Government of P.E.I. indicates that at the beginning of Phase 3, which is June 1st, 15 people may gather indoors and 20 people outdoors, with physical distancing being maintained at 6 feet. This means that liturgical ceremonies such as funeral Masses, baptisms, weddings, etc. can be performed in church beginning Monday, June 1st. This includes the possibility of weekday Masses. The Knights of Columbus: will be meeting on Tuesday, June 16th at 7:00 pm. They will be practicing social distancing. Please note this is a correction to the date.
The Annual Parish Report: It is now available for anyone who is interested. You can pick up a copy during current business hours (10-2:00) The Living with Christ Missal for June is available at the office doorway. You can pick up your copy during current office hours. (10 – 2:00)
Sunday Mass will be shown on Eastlink, channel 10, at 9:00 am until we are able to gather again as a community of believers. Mass will also be live streamed at the same time on the Parish HR Facebook page as well for those who cannot access Eastlink. Go to - https://www.facebook.com/holyredeemerpei/ And on the left-hand side scroll down to Video to open the available videos and press on the Video you want to watch. You can watch it at any time.
Weekday Mass: Starting June 1 the church will be opened to 15 people including Father. You will be asked
to use Hand Sanitizer, to sit in the reserved seating and to practice social distancing. The washrooms will be closed. In the case of emergence use, let the office staff know so the washroom can be sanitized. Please enter the building via the big doors on the parking lot side by 8:45 (Mass is now at 9:00 am). If Father is saying a Mass for your loved one, you are welcomed to attend the Mass. After that there will be a list indicating the names of who will be attending Mass on that day. We will call you to confirm your spot. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work through this exercise of opening our church to Parishioners. Please pass the word to Parishioners who do not have the internet.
YARD WORK: We need help to remove all the weeds in the garden. While practicing social distancing bring your rake and do a little yard work to help our grounds look presentable. Thank you in advance.
