PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, you have been blessed and favored by God. You became not only

the Mother of the Redeemer but the Mother of the redeemed as well.

We come to you today as your loving children. Watch over us and take care of us.

As you held the child Jesus in your loving arms, so take us in your arms.

Be a mother ready at every moment to help us. For God who is mighty has done great things

for you, and His mercy is from age to age to those who love Him.

Our greatest fear is that in time of temptation we may fail to call out to you, and become lost

children. Intercede for us, dear Mother, in obtaining pardon for our sins, love for Jesus, final

perseverance, and the grace always to call upon you, Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Amen.

HOLY CROSS FIRST FRIDAY MEMORIAL

OUR COMMUNITY

AN INVITATION TO BOY SCOUTS

Attention Boy Scouts: Regardless of what troop you are in, if you are a Boy Scout and have completed the 6th grade, you can earn the religious emblem for Boy Scouts of the Cath-olic faith. A group will be starting this program on Sunday December 3rd, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the St. Luke room of St. Matthew parish center.

The program will run until May on a weekly basis except during the Christmas and Spring Break seasons. Cost is $10 and covers all materials. Come explore the connection between the sacraments and your Boy Scout experience.

To register or for more information, please email Linda Atherton at [email protected], or call 217-369-0080. Scouts from all parishes and troops are welcome!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST IN PENFIELD

The St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Penfield will host a Biscuits & Gravy/Sausage and Pancake Breakfast next Sunday, December 3rd, from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Par-ish Hall. Cost is simply a free-will offering. Proceeds will benefit the Alter and Rosary Society. Come join us!

BACKPACK TIME AT DAILY BREAD

We at Daily Bread Soup Kitchen will hold our annual backpack give-away on Friday, December 15th. Please help us provide them again this year. Drop them off as of Friday, December 1st, at Daily Bread, 116 N. First St., Champaign, on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Please use the back door when dropping off back-packs. They can also be dropped off at Ellen Harms’ (705 S. Elm Blvd.) or at Pam Hagle’s (713 S. Elm Blvd.) Tax forms will be available.

Backpacks should be stuffed with things such as deodor-ant, hand lotion, toothpaste & brushes, shampoo, shaving cream, and gloves, hats, scarves, socks, sweatshirts, tee shirts, long underwear, and regular underwear. Other items could include hand warmers, cough drops, books, decks of cards, small fleece blankets, and food items. All items should be new. All backpacks should be new or nearly new. We are also happy to accept empty backpacks and items to fill them.

All backpacks should be labeled with the gender and size of the recipient (e.g., Man-XL). Most of our guests request at least a size Large, and especially XL. We also need some 2X and 3X bags. We will NOT be giving out chil-dren’s backpacks this year, as there are other programs in our community that offer gifts for kids.

BAROQUE ARTISTS SING-ALONG

The Baroque Artists of C-U will present their annual Messi-ah Sing-Along with Holy Cross Music Director Jonathan Young at the organ, replacing Scott who accompanied this event for many years. The Sing-Along will take place at 4:00 p.m. Today, November 26th at First Baptist Church of Savoy. There are no tickets. Free-will donations will be gratefully accepted, but not required. Bring a score or bor-row one at the door. Join us for this holiday treat!
