GOSPEL: Matthew 22:34-40 When you heard the Pharisee's question to Jesus, did you know what the answer would be? If not, now would be a good time to learn the answer by heart. Which is the greatest commandment? Jesus quotes the law of love in two parts. First we must love God with our entire selves. Out of that love of God grows the love of others. We must love our neighbors with as much care and concern as we have for ourselves. Does it seem very easy to love? As we try to do it, we will find it can be very difficult. . 1.) Why do you think most people say that this is the most important teaching of Jesus? 2.) Why is it called the "law of love"? 3.) How does this sum up the ten commandments and other teachings of Jesus? 4.) ? Who are our neighbors? What does "as yourself" mean?

EVANGELIO: Mateo 22:34-40 Cuando escuchaste la pregunta que el fariseo hizo a Jesús, ¿sabías cuál sería la respuesta? Si no, es un buen momento para aprenderla de memoria. ¿Cuál es el mandamiento más importante? Jesús divide la ley del amor en dos partes: primero debemos amar a Dios con todo nuestro ser. Y de ese amor a Dios crece el amor a los demás. Debemos amar a nuestro prójimo como nos amamos a nosotros mismos. Parece fácil de hacer. Al tratar de hacerlo nos damos cuenta de que puede ser muy difícil. 1.) ¿Por qué crees que algunas personas piensan que esta es la enseñanza más importante de Jesús? 2.) ¿Por qué es llamada la "ley del amor"? 3.) ¿Cómo resume esta ley los Diez Mandamientos y otras enseñanzas de Jesús? 4.) ¿Quién es nuestro prójimo? ¿Qué quiere decir "como a ti mismo?”

Coming Up Soon: Centennial Celebration Gala: Join us in celebrating our par-ish’s Centennial on Satur-

day, November 19th. Please help spread the word to

Epiphany’s friends, parish-ioners and alumni! The after-noon will begin at 4:00pm with a Mass at Epiphany, which will be followed by a re-

ception at the South San Francisco Conven-tion Center at 6:00pm—with dinner and

dancing with a live band. ALL proceeds will benefit the Parish Debt Fund. Reservations are now being taken. Please call or stop by

of the century!

International Night 2011: It’s that wonderful time of year again! On Saturday, November 5th, we will be having our 14th Annual International

Night Dinner! During this eve-ning, we have an all you can eat menu of: African-American , Chinese, Filipino, His-panic, Irish food and dessert! In addition to the great food, we have amazing entertain-ment from different cultures. This is one of the wonderful ways we celebrate our diver-sity. This is the parish’s largest fund-raiser. If you have never been to one, we hope you will join us this year! We are also asking for your help. We are asking for raffle prizes. Please contact the Parish Office. Dinner tick-ets for adults are $25 and $12 for children under 12 years of age. Raffle tickets are $25 for a booklet of 6. The first prize will be $2,000!! Dinner and Raffle tickets will be on sale outside after Mass!

Halloween Dance: Epiphany’s Grupo Hispano invites you to their annual Halloween Din-ner Dance on Saturday, October 29th, in the cafeteria. Tickets are $20 and includes dinner at 7:00pm and dancing until 1:00am. Doors open at 6:00pm with No-host cocktails. Announcements: Centennial Plan—

End Parish Debt:

Thank You! $143,951 has now been pledged

to the Centennial Anniversary Plan to end the parish debt. This will enable Church of the Epiphany to expand ministries and services for youth, families, seniors and the needy.

Father Eugene Tungol and the Fi-nance Council thanks all those who

have pledged and asks every parish-ioner to support this important ap-

peal.

On November 19th, we will cele-brate the Centennial Anniversary of

Church of the Epiphany.

We are trying to raise as much as possible to finally end our parish

debt of $300,000.

Next week information will be avail-able for all parishioners who have not

yet pledged. ANY PLEDGE—REGARDLESS OF

THE AMOUNT—IS WELCOME AND VERY MUCH NEEDED.

Pledges can be made in one payment or over 12, 24, or 36 months.

If you wish to make a pledge today after mass, a committee volunteer is

available at a table outside. Thank you!

Flag Procession:

The Centennial Mass on November 19, at 4 o'clock in the evening will begin with a procession of the flags that represent the nationalities of our parishioners. If you would like to be a flag bearer and can at-tend the rehearsal on Thursday, November 17th at 7:00pm, please contact:

For Your Information: Memorial Mass:

Epiphany’s Grief Ministry invites you to a Memorial Mass in memory of all who have died since last All Souls Day. The Mass will be on Wednesday, November 2nd at 7:00pm, in the church. Join us in praying for our de-ceased loved ones.

All Saints Day:

All Saints Day will be on Tuesday, November 1st. It is not a Holy Day of Obligation.

Our Masses will be at: 6:30am, 8:00am., and 11:00am (School Mass).

All Souls Day: All Souls Day will be on Wednesday, No-

vember 2nd. Masses will be at 6:30am, 8:00am, and 7:00pm. Offering envelopes are avail-able at the entrances of the

church.

Fellowship: You are invited to the cafeteria after the 1:00pm. Mass on Sunday, November 6th for coffee, cookies & con-versation. Check it out!

Invitamos a todos a las 7:00pm. Esta misa es auspiciada por el Ministerio de Consolación de la parroquia. Ayúdenos a que asistan a la Misa Anual del Día de los Difuntos el mier-coles 2 de noviembre, a honrar a todos los difuntos en este día especial.

Celebración del Dí a de Todos los Santos:

El Día de Todos los Santos será el martes 1o

de noviembre y por lo tanto no es fiesta de guardar. Las misas se celebrarán como de costumbre a las 6:30am, 8:00am, y 11:00am.

Dí a de Todos los Difuntos: La celebración del Día de todos los Difuntos será el miercoles 2 de noviembre. Habrán misas a las 6:30am, 8:00am y 7:00pm. Puede encontrar los sobres para las ofrendas en las entradas del templo.
