Each parish of the diocese is included in an annual mission appeals' process A representative from a specific mis-sion is assigned to the parish inviting people to learn about the mission, and to make charitable contributions to the specific mission. The money collected by the parish normally is sent to the Diocesan Mission Office, which is then forwarded to that specific mission. The Church of the Annunciation is privileged to have Fr. Lac Pham, CPPS, a member of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, who has served in Vietnam for a number of years, to educate us about the Precious Blood Mission in Vietnam. Fr. Lac arrived in the United States as a young man, was educat-ed in the Precious Blood Formation programs, then returned to Vietnam to begin a Mission with the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, Kansas City Province. Thank you for being with us, Fr. Lac. I also want to share about a change in the weekday Mass schedule. It has been suggested that priests take off one day a week to reenergize. I have not been very faithful to that in the past, but maybe I should at least estab-lish a day to provide an opportunity to take some time off. Beginning on Monday, August 10, and subsequent Monday mornings, Mass will not be available here at the parish.. This also presents an opportunity for people to attend Mass at a neighboring parish if they wish to attend Mass.. Hopefully this will not be too much of an incon-venience. There also have been some requests to have an evening Mass once a week for those who cannot attend the morning Mass. This will be an item for discussion at the staff meeting and at the pastoral council meeting. If you have a suggestion or preference regarding a possible evening Mass please contact a staff or pastoral council member. A number of people have contacted me regarding parish life, which I have appreciated. Do not hesitate to approach me with your thoughts and ideas. I will not promise that all of them will be implemented, but the items will be brought to the appropriate council and committee members. I think it is important for staff and/or committee members to be part of parish discussions and/or decisions. Father Al Ebach C.PP.S.
Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Weekend August 1/2, 2015
In today’s Gospel we hear Jesus proclaiming that he is “the bread of life.” He then offers an invita on to come to him. For us, the invita on is to live the Eucharis c life in Christ. What does it mean for our parish family to live together in the Eucharist? What does it mean for us to share the Eucharist together, to par cipate in the “bread of life” together? Does it mean we love each other, support our community of faith, work together? Do we carry each other’s bur-dens? Celebrate our joys? What are the prac cal im-plica ons of being good stewards of our Eucharis c life together?

A Stewardship Prayer for August
For Our Families
Heavenly Father, you have given us the model of life in the Holy Family of Nazareth. Help us, O Loving Father, to make our family another Nazareth where love, peace and joy reign. May it be deeply contemplative, intensely Eucharistic, revived with joy.
Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow in family prayer. Teach us to see Jesus in the members of our families, especially in their distressing disguise. May the Eucharistic heart of Jesus make our hearts humble like his and help us to carry out our family duties in a holy way. May we love one another as God loves each one of us, more and more each day, and forgive each other’s faults as you forgive our sins. Help us, O Loving Father, to take whatever you give and give whatever you take with a big smile.
In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen
~Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
