Recent updates from Catholic Migration Services Pertaining to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and Temporary Pro-tected Status Pertaining to Nepal. Recent Updates to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) On April 24, 2018 a Judge for the Federal District Court of the Dis-trict of Columbia ruled that the administration’s decision to termi-nate Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was based on “unexplained grounds” and therefore concluded that the DACA program must stay in place and the USCIS must accept new appli-cations. However, the Judge’s decision is on hold for 90 days to give the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) time to better explain its reasoning for cancelling DACA. What this mean for DACA recipients If the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is not able to come up with a sufficient reason for why they cancelled DACA, the pro-gram will continue and DHS will be forced to accept new DACA applications. Recent Updates to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) On April 26, 2018 the Secretary of Homeland Security announced that the termination of TPS for Nepal will be delayed for 12 months and the program will terminate on June 24, 2019. Nepali citizens with TPS will be required to re-register for TPS and work authori-zation but should not do so until the re-registration period is an-nounced in the Federal Registrar. Trip to the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy We will be having a trip to the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy on Saturday, August 4, 2018. The Price of the trip is $35.00. Informe Reciente de los Servicios Católicos de Migración So-bre la Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia y Esta-tus de Protección Temporal para Nepal. Informe Reciente sobre Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia (DACA) Abril 24, 2018 un juez del Tribunal Federal del Distrito de Colum-bia dictaminó que la decisión de la administración de terminar Ac-ción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia (DACA, por sus siglas en inglés) fue basado en “motivos inexplicables” y, por tan-to, el programa de DACA debe continuar vigente y Servicios de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de Estados Unidos (USCIS, por sus si-glas en inglés) debe aceptar aplicaciones nuevas. Sin embargo, la decisión del juez está suspendido por 90 días para dar el Departa-mento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS por sus siglas en inglés) tiem-po para mejor explicar su razón por cancelar DACA. Que significa esto para beneficiarios de DACA Si el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS, por sus siglas en inglés) no puede explicar una razón suficiente por cancelar DACA, el programa continuará y DHS verán obligados a aceptar nuevas aplicaciones para DACA. Informe reciente sobre y Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) Abril 26, 2018 el Secretario de Seguridad Nacional anunció la terminación de la designación del Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS, por sus siglas en inglés) se demorará por 12 meses y el pro-grama terminará Juno 24, 2019. Ciudadanos Nepalés con TPS tie-nen que re-inscribir para TPS y sus documentos de Autorización de Empleo, pero no deben hacerlo hasta que el periodo de re-inscribir se anuncia por el Registro Federal.
