THE INTERCESSOR’S CORNER St. Camillus de Lellis Born in 16th century Italy, St. Camillus aimed for holiness despite serious setbacks. He had a gambling addiction and became known for being argumentative and contentious. After losing his possessions and even his own shirt through gambling, he was

hired by some compassionate Franciscans, but later transferred to a Capuchin order. After being ordained a priest, he and some companions founded the order of the Camellians, who cared for the grievously sick, prisoners, and the plague victims.

  • PLEASE SAVE THE DATES! *August 24 – St. Patrick Golf Outing *September 28-29 – St. Patrick Prize/Basket Auction

Once again, St. Patrick Parish will have a Prize and Theme Basket Auction in the Fall! We ask ALL of our parishioners to please consider helping with this very important fundraiser by putting together a basket with a theme such as lottery, body and bath, Italian, coffee, wine, etc……. The ideas are endless!!! Or, if you have BRAND NEW items for a basket, we would appreciate them also. If you got a gift that isn’t exactly something that you need, please re-gift it to us. As long as the gift was not opened or used, we will take it! And, if you want to “leave the shopping to us”, monetary donations are also appreciated so that we can purchase big ticket items! We will start collecting baskets and items in August, but for now, please start shopping (look for sales), collecting, and thinking! Our First “First Friday with Monsignor” at DD was a great success!! Please join Monsignor and Fr. Barnabas for our next First Friday at Dunkin’ Donuts (Claude A Lord Boulevard) at 6 pm on July 5. Doughnuts, coffee, lattes, coolattas are on your own, but the education is free! All are welcome! Don’t be shy! Bring your Catholic questions!

In Matthew 16, Jesus named Peter “the Rock” upon which Jesus would build his Church (Matthew 16:17-18). After the Ascension, St. Peter traveled to Rome for the Gospel, and became the bishop of the Christian community there. He was martyred and buried in Rome, and his successors became the next popes. Historically, the church in Rome proved to be a source of unity, strength, and faithfulness in adversity. Today, Catholics everywhere call Rome, the resting place of St. Peter, “home.” PS: Welcome “home” to our Romeing travelers

LOTTO SELLERS WELCOME! We could always use more people to sell our monthly calendars! Do you have family, friends, neighbors, co-workers that you can sell to? These calendars are great! For only $5, you can win $50 and upwards of $500+++! (We have seen lucky people win more than once in a month!) Many of the lottery calendars out there now are $5 and do not have the prizes like we have (daily prizes might only be $25)! This is a very good fundraiser for our Parish, but we can even do better. Please call the Parish Office for more information about how you can help us! It’s easy, and we will work with you!

St. Patrick Parish Appreciates!! THANK YOU for being so GOOD to God’s Children!!! We can honestly say that Catholic Kids Camp 2019 was a HUGE Success!!! It was five days of fun and faith for our children as they became Secret Agents and Detectives, and learned about the “Marvelous Mystery: The Mass Comes Alive!” The children learned that Mass is a Mystery, a Gift, a Celebration, a Meal, and a Call. They sang, danced, prayed, heard stories, and watched skits all about the theme of the day. Engraved in our minds are the children’s faces as they did so many beautiful crafts: a Mystery Box, a Bread in a Jar gift, and painted Faith rocks. They even made a Unity quilt for Monsignor that is now on display in the back of Church. The children learned from the FBI (faith-based instruction) all about the Mass in their very own home-made Church. They played Spy games throughout the week, and had the coolest Secret Snacks all related to the theme of the Mass (check out our pictures on our Parish Facebook page…there are hundreds of them!) We are very grateful to God for a wonderful week! In particular, we would like to thank Msgr. O’Connor & Fr. Barnabas for their support & encouragement. Thank you to our very generous Parish Family who picked from the Giving Tree and donated supplies and monetary contributions. A BIG THANK YOU to Bob Engle who, once again, designed beautiful Church and Secret Agent scenery, and an awesome huge magnifying glass! We don’t know what we would do without Bob! He makes our Catholic Kids Camp Amazing every year! And, A BIG THANK YOU to our Team and Volunteers who helped to make CKC a great experience: Ben Artz; Ralph Chiplonia; The Clews: Leah, Jason, Maxwell; Pat Day; Sr. Mary Jane Dunleavy; Madison Eroh; Thomas Gittings; Kathy Hampford; Linda Harley; The Joyces: Amy, Richie, Brigid; Darryl Leibig; Joanne Matina; Evelyn McGuire; The Mills: Zach, Haley; Kim Norris; The O’Tooles: Jill, Mark; Joanne O’Toole; Tina Rutecky; The Trays: Maureen, Tessa, Dakota, Dustin, Dillon, Megan, Mark, Joshua, Tyler, Tiffany; Jessica Turnitza; Dale Verchick; Debbie Walker; Helen Weiss; The Ziakas: Alexis, Emma and anyone who did anything for this CKC!! We also thank Aaron’s, Cathy Roberts and Mr. Softee, Charlie Taronis, Mayor Muldowney, Chief of Police Wojciechowsky, the Pottsville Street Department, and Ark Rentals for their special help. A special thank you to McGruff the Crime Dog who made a cameo appearance at our finale! We thank everyone who joined us for our beautiful Closing Mass. We celebrated the end of a wonderful week with hotdogs, goodies, a scavenger hunt, a bounce house, fun goodie bags, and an ever favorite… a visit from Mr. Softee! We thank everyone who is continuing to help us with our collection for the Missions in Africa this Summer! Most of all, we thank our Dear Lord for keeping us safe, happy, and giving us a good Catholic experience! Thank you Saints and Angels as we look to the skies to see where our next adventure leads us! See you at Mass! Yours in Christ, The 2019 Catholic Kids Club Team!
