for a couple of minutes, with the Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense --at 1:05 thePrime Minister of New Zealand arrived with the Ambassador of N. Z. , and Amb. Duke.All had a drink upstairs. At 1:15 they went down the grand staircase with the color guard,and went to the East room to receive 108 guests, at 1:25 they sat down in the State Dining'Room for Stag Luncheon honoring the Prime Minister of New Zealand. Luncheonended at 2:35 pm Toasts exchanged

George Reedy's press briefing 4:23 pm today gave these points re the discussion w/ HolyoakePresident welcomed meeting because of the opportunity to reassert the deep and abiding interestin the freedom of Southeast Asia and that area of the world. Considered that the three nations --Australia, Ne w Zealand and the United States -- belong to a mutual alliance because they sharea common heritage of freedom. Whatever happens in Southeast Asia very directly affects thesecurity of Australia and Ne w Zealand. Situation in both Laos and Viet Nam was one of thesubjects of conversation between the PM and the President. President expressed our appreciationfor the efforts of the civilian surgical team that. New Zealand has in Viet Nam and also for the
freedom is secur e and peace is assured," President expressed his satisfaction With the state ofANZUS =-- apparently the three members see eye to eye on all essential matters. Prime Ministerexpressed his satisfaction with the meeting and also he reviewed with the President the develop-ments in the recent Commonwealth conference in London.
