From the Desk of Father José Félix
A Prayer to Mary, Queen of Peace
O Virgin Mary, Queen of peace, you who stood at the foot of the cross, obtain from your Son pardon for our sins; you who never doubted the victory of his resurrection, sustain our faith and our hope; you who are enthroned as Queen in glory, teach us the royal road of service and the glory of love.
A Prayer for Vocations
O God, Who wish all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of Your truth: send, we beg You, laborers into Your harvest, and grant them grace to speak Your word with all boldness; so that Your word may spread and be glorified, and all nations may know You, the only God, and Him Whom You have sent, Jesus Christ Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns world without end. Amen.
God bless, Father José Félix
+ REST IN PEACE + Please pray for Vinicio Varrasso, Rita Tranquillo

TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — Your ancestors waited in faith and courage for God’s promised summons (Wisdom 18:6-9). Psalm — Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own (Psalm 33). Second Reading — By faith Abraham sojourned in the promised land (Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-19 [1-2, 8-12]). Gospel — You do not know the day nor the hour when the Son of Man will appear (Luke 12:32-48 [35-40]).
TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION When Pope Pius XII died in 1958, there was the usu-al buzz of speculation about likely successors. Cardinal Agajanian, Patriarch of the Armenians, was highly thought of as a likely choice. This took many Catholics by surprise, since he had never celebrated the same litur-gy as Pope Pius, but followed ancient Armenian customs according to the Eastern Church, which veils the Euchari-sic liturgy from sight by a series of curtains, and in which the priest kneels while the people stand for Communion. In the years that followed, the Second Vatican Coun-cil would affirm the dignity and independence of the Eastern Churches, in complete union with Rome, yet dif-ferent in patterns of life and worship. We have the same faith, the same sacraments, and the same pope. Yet every-where in the world our separate Churches are combined into families held together by the ministry of bishops. All of this serves as warning: If you ever say, “But we’ve always done it this way,” you are on very thin ice indeed!
