ORDINANCE REMINDERS CONTROL & MAINTENANCE OF ANIMALS (DOG BARKING) – Pet owners are again reminded to control and monitor pets from barking excessively so as not to become a disturbance to others so they can peacefully enjoy their outdoor space as well as their indoor environment. Excessive barking and dog poop being left in yards and on sidewalks is becoming a problem within Christiana Borough. Remember it’s your dog not your neighbors and in fairness to your neighbors and all residents in the borough pick up your dog’s poop. Also, all dogs are to be leashed and/or contained at all times. Dogs have been seen off leash in the Borough and Lions Club Park. These parks are not dog parks!

CURFEW – Parents/guardians are reminded that persons under the age of 18 are restricted by a curfew between 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning for each and every day of the week. During these hours, minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The ordinance makes the parent or legal guardian responsible for this misconduct.

GRASS/WEEDS – Property owners or tenants are required to keep grass weeds less than six inches in height.

BURNING – A new burn ordinance has been adopted by Council to include Portable Outdoor Fireplaces – An appliance includes but not limited to chimineas, patio units, heating lamps and cast iron fire pits or device no more than 3 feet in diameter manufactured out of non-combustible materials such as steel, concrete or clay to burn

solid fuel or propane, gas or other appropriate regulated fuel, clean wood, or approved alternatives. The portable outdoor fireplace must be UL listed or approved by the Borough Fire Marshall, Borough Fire Chief and/or Borough Code Officer. A portable fireplace shall at all times be operated at a minimum of 15 feet from any structure or combustible material i.e.; under trees and the flame height is to be limited to 3 feet. Fires shall be attended at all times. All fires are to be extinguished no later than 12:00 am (midnight) on Friday and Saturday and no later than 10:00 pm Sunday through Thursday. Visit the Borough website or the Borough office during normal business hours to read this full ordinance as well as other borough ordinances.

~~ALL BOROUGH ORDINANCES WILL BE ENFORCED~~

COMMUNITY PRIDE – In keeping with the community pride spirit we are asking everyone, homeowners, landlords and renters to keep your lawns cut, bushes and trees trimmed from growing onto sidewalks, curb lines weeded and front porches and sidewalks clear of clutter. EVERYONE NEEDS TO HELP so that visitors and those driving thru our quaint community are left with a great first impression.

RENTAL UNIT REGISTRATION FORM

Landlords if you have not returned your Rental Unit Registration Form, please do so as soon as possible. Return form to the Borough Office and not to PNC Bank with your water bill payments. Also, for your convenience a drop box is available on the right side of the Borough Office doors so that you may drop off your form(s) after business hours. THANK YOU FOR COOPERATION!

These cards are NOT CITATIONS but are intended as FRIENDLY REMINDERS to residents to address the noted issues on the door hangers. Residents may direct questions regarding a violation card they received or general questions about the card system to Anthony Campbell, Code Enforcement Officer at 610.931.3040. Remember please contact Anthony prior to starting a project to verify whether a permit is required.

BOROUGH POLICE PHONE NUMBERS POLICE: 610.593.2234. Please call this number for all police matters.

Please DO NOT call the Borough Office. If you have a Police Emergency, dial 911. All calls must be taken by the dispatchers to be documented. The dispatcher then contacts an officer (local or state) who will respond to your call. If you see something suspicious, please call 911 immediately don’t wait until you see an officer.

The Christiana Police has received numerous complaints from residents and drivers of children darting out between parked cars as well as riding their bicycles in the streets without looking or paying attention to traffic. Parents, guardians and babysitters help us keep the children safe this summer and always by keeping an eye on them when they are outdoors. PLEASE HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THEM ABOUT SAFETY!!!

If you are feeding cats that are not yours…..PLEASE STOP!! Certain neighborhoods are being overrun by strays because they are being fed. If you are not feeding stray cats…DO NOT START!

MAKE IT A GREAT SUMMER!
